The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) wasted our money in sending a TOURIST into space, thus creating an artificial hero, Malaysia’s First Space Tourist, referred to as Malaysia’s Astronaut. It has plans to send a second Space Tourist into space.

IT IS NOW INVOLVED IN SENDING TOURISTS TO THE ANTARTIC! MOSTI WILL BEAR THE BRUNT OF THE COST.

Foundation denies organising MB’s visit to Antarctica

The Sultan Mizan Royal Foundation (YDSM) today denied reports that it was organising the visit of Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Said to Antarctica.
Its executive secretary, Mohd Azrul Ismail, said the foundation was only involved in charity work to help raise the socio-economic standard and well-being of the people.
“The visit is not organised by YDSM and it is not linked to the foundation’s programme,” it said in a statement today.

I wonder what kind of record he will set by going to the Antartic? Will it be the Guinness World Record for the MOST USELESS trip to the South Pole?
Here is a boy who not only set a record but also raised money for charity.
英國16歲少年路易斯‧克拉克,成功徒步抵達南極點,成為史上最年輕完成這項壯舉的人。
他在溫度最低攝氏零下50度,風速最高每小時193公里的環境下,徒步旅行了48天。

British teen claims new South Pole trek record
LONDON (AFP) – A 16-year-old British schoolboy on Saturday became the youngest person ever to trek to the South Pole, his team said.
Lewis Clarke celebrated with a bowl of pasta with fresh parmesan cheese, his first real meal since setting off on the gruelling 702-mile (1,129-kilometre) journey from the coast on Dec 2.

Clarke, who raised money for Prince Charles’ charity for young people, the Prince’s Trust, will be back in Britain on January 24 when he hopes his record will be verified.
Guinness World Records said the record for the youngest person to trek overland to the South Pole without the use of dogs or motorised vehicles was set by 18-year-old Canadian Sarah Ann McNair-Landry in January 2005.

Cold fact: Cost of MB’s Antartica trip borne by foundation under MOSTI
Primary tabs
PETALING JAYA (Jan 17): The yet to be known costs of the delegation heading to Antarctica is being borne ‘solely’ by the Sultan Mizan Antarctica Research Foundation (YPASM) which falls under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).
…
A source from the Terengganu Mentri Besar’s office said the cost of the 15-day expedition to the Antarctica would be borne by the YPASM.
“But the cost was not revealed to us,” he told fz.com in a phone interview.
Asked where the foundation’s funds came from, the source revealed “it was from contributors”.
According to news reports, the YPASM was incorporated as a company with limited guarantee on July 18, 2012.
During the launch, the federal government approved a RM10 million launching grant and a matching grant of up to RM500,000 a year for the Foundation to carry out its programmes and activities.
The Terengganu state government had also pledged RM2 million, while Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) pledged RM100,000 and RM50,000, respectively, to YPASM.

“First of all, how is this 15-day jolly luxury cruise to Antarctica going to benefit Malaysia? If Malaysia has scientists involved in climate change, they would be better served studying the impact of climate change through massive deforestation happening in our country. Why should we be spending any tax-payers money at all to “research” an area where we have no competitive advantage?
