French tourist claims teen molested her at Monkey Beach

BALIK PULAU: A trip to the Penang National Park turned into a nightmare for a French teacher when she was allegedly molested by a teenage boy.

The 35-year-old tourist claimed she was hugged, kissed and had her breasts groped while walking in the park.

She had earlier sought directions from the 18-year-old on her way to Monkey Beach at about 1.10pm on Thursday.

After walking for about 20 minutes, she said the suspect suddenly reappeared in front of her and turned amorous. He hugged her, kissed her a few times, groped her breasts and wanted to undress her.

At first frozen by surprise, the woman bravely put up a struggle after she regained her composure.

She shouted for help and managed to scratch the suspect’s chin.

Luckily, several tourists passed by and the suspect escaped into the forest.

The woman then lodged a report at the Teluk Bahang police station.

Some two hours later, park enforcement officers bumped into the suspect and overpowered him. He was then handed over to the police.

It is unclear if the argument was real or staged.

This video was posted by a Facebook user Henry Xavier Kueh, and it all started with a can of coke.

At the start of the video, the woman can be hear yelling:

“Why did you buy me coke? You know I don’t drink coke.”

Her boyfriend tried to explain that the other drinks were sold out, but his girlfriend was not accepting that reason.

Mana boleh? When a Malaysian or Singapore bank ATM ‘cheats’ you…

MANA BOLEH? When an ATM ‘cheats’ you…

*Incident 1

It was 9.15pm on a week night.

I keyed in my details and waited for the RM50 X 20 = RM1,000 to come out. When I did, I counted the cash…and discovered that ONE banknote was RM5! That meant RM955.

Luckily, a bank officer was on duty. He turned out to be an ex-student: DOUBLE luck!

“I believe you,” he said, “so take this RM50 in exchange, and I’ll write a report.”

*Incident 2

“Dad,” came the voice over the phone. “I keyed in RM200 and what came out were 3 RM50 notes and a RM5 note!” There was no one on duty as it was an ATM at a petrol station. He had to accept his loss.

Now how do you go about rectifying this situation? Here are some proper steps that will expedite the recovery of your lost funds.

By: Caitlyn Ng

…you keyed in RM100 but the machine only dispenses RM80; it has short-changed you by RM20! If only RM80 is later deducted from your account, then you can breathe a sigh of relief as you’ve lost nothing. However, if your account has been debited RM100, then your bank owes you the balance of RM20.

Now how do you go about rectifying this situation? No, you aren’t supposed to start kicking and cussing at the ATM, that won’t solve the problem, nor will it do you any good either. SaveMoney.my decides to take a look at the proper steps that will expedite the recovery of your lost funds.

1) Always get a printed receipt
2) Count your cash

3) Notify the bank / ATM owner
4) Act quickly

Don’t list garbage bins and toilets as birthplace, NRD told

JOHOR BARU: Babies born or found at public places including toilets, bus stops and even sheds have to go through a lifetime of humiliation as their exact place of birth is stated in their birth certificates, says Johor Health and Environment exco member Datuk Ayub Rahmat.

He urged the National Registration Department (NRD) to be more considerate in naming the places of birth of such children, which are common among those born out of wedlock and others who are abandoned.

Ayub said the exact place of birth of these children was usually written in their birth certificates when parents register their children with the NRD.

“These children are stuck and have no choice but to write their place of birth as stated in their birth certificates whenever they fill up a form.

“This means if they were found in a ‘tong sampah’ (garbage bin) here, their birth certificate would state exactly that,” he added.

Ayub, who expressed his disappointment over the naming of the places of birth, urged the NRD to refrain from continuing with such practices. “We hope that the department would immediately look into this issue for the sake of the children involved,” he said after the launching of the Generasiku Sayang seminar here yesterday.

“It never used to be this way. But recently we have seen more and more of such children coming forward,” he said adding that the children themselves would be forced to face a lifetime of embarrassment.

“These victims will have to face humiliation even in other countries, as the place of birth is also clearly stated in their passports.

FOR TALKING AND LAUGHING LOUDLY, THIS STUDENT GOT STABBED IN THE BACK!

In Petaling Jaya, at a food outlet on Jalan Genting Klang, Setapak, a 21-year-old college student and his friends were talking and laughing loudly, a VERY Malaysian thing, but this man, a total stranger, scolded him for being too loud.

Of course, the student spoke up for himself, which angered the man. He waited outside, and when the student came out, attacked him. The student ran! Not fast enough: he was knifed in the back.

GEORGE TOWN: A son, worried that his mother would have to put up with loneliness, devised a novel way of attracting people, even complete strangers, to visit her at her home in Penang’s Lim Jetty.

Lim Eng Choon’s trump cards were an old photograph of Lim Jetty and an illustration of the popular heritage attraction, which he mounted on the exterior wall of his mother’s home.

In just three days, more than 100 visitors walked up to the house to look at the illustration and chat with 97-year-old Lee Kim Kee.

Eng Choon said he came up with the idea almost a year ago.

“I live in a house near the same jetty, but I needed to leave for work early in the morning,” said the 62-year-old, who added that the ancient photo was a view of the jetty captured by a foreigner in 1910.

“It was presented to my grandfather,” he said.

“I enlarged the photo, and looked for an artist to draw it. Through a friend, I got to know 15-year-old Khoo Ka Leong.

“At first, he said he had no inspiration to draw a big picture for me, so I agreed to a much smaller version. To my surprise, he presented a huge drawing after six months, which was on the seventh day of the Chinese New Year,” he said.

Since the 1.5m by 1.2m drawing and the photo were put up on the wall on Thursday, the house has been the talking point of every visitor to the jetty.

KLANG: Young girls and women can live out their fairy tale fantasies of becoming a mermaid for a fee of RM100 a month at a swimming school here.

Coach BL Lee has been giving “mermaid classes” since 2011 for girls who want to learn how to swim and behave like the mythical creature.

Strangely enough, he said men had also asked if he conducted any “merman” classes.

“Currently, I don’t. I do not have suitable fins for them,” he laughed.

Dolphin Lee, as he is known to his friends and students, said he introduced his unique classes after seeing a woman acting as a mermaid during a product launch.

“When I saw the immense interest she generated among the guests, I thought it would be a great idea to teach such classes,” he said.

“I started with four students. Now, I have 20,” said the 39-year-old who runs the Dolphinlee Aquatic school.
