Malaysia is 50. Lee Kuan Yew is 90.
Chin Peng is dead and buried. No tears from me. Just a thought, “Good riddance.”

A SALIENT OBSERVATION BY A FRIEND
Up to 1960 most of the police force was not Malay. The police who died would have been mostly Sikhs, Pathans. The only malays in the police who died would have been in the Bukit Kepong incident, and there too the commies were led by fellow malays (it was mostly malay vs malay).

The article provides far better insight into Chin Peng’s character and acts than provided so far by the DAP and other Opposition politicians, who demonstrate once again that opposing for the sake of opposing is mindless.

Chin Peng: A fanatic but no hero
…
Excerpts from the article
…In 1998, when I asked a senior Malaysian academic colleague if she wanted to meet Chin Peng, her response said it all: “No. That b****** was responsible for the deaths of some of my family members.”
Certainly, Chin Peng was a capable, savvy leader who sincerely believed in his cause. But as social psychologist Roy Baumeister observed, one of the roots of evil is precisely such fanatical belief. It is this type of belief that produced the 9/11 attacks in the United States, the October 2002 Bali bombings and the recent Westgate Mall attack in Kenya.
Chin Peng was a sincere man, but he was sincerely wrong. Now more than ever, moral clarity is needed in the way we judge historical figures. We owe at least that to future generations.

NO, THEY WERE NOT BRINGING IN THE ASHES OF CHIN PING, JUST ITEMS RELATED TO CHIN PENG!
Malaysiakini

The two men in detained in Penang late last night were only being investigated to determine if they were bringing in any of the late Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) leader Chin Peng’s ashes, and were not arrested, Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today.
peaking to reporters outside the Dewan Rakyat today, Zahid (left) said that the duo were released after police realised the men were not carrying any ashes.
Zahid also admitted that there was no particular ban preventing Chin Peng’s books and memoirs from being brought back into the country.
“At the moment, there is no such restriction. But we will look into it and see what we can do,” Zahid said in a non-committal fashion.

Police nab duo with Chin Peng items
A tip-off that two men were bringing in the ashes of Chin Peng turned out to be false as the duo were only having paraphernalia of the former communist party leader.
GEORGE TOWN: Police arrested two men last night following a tip off that they were bringing in ashes of deceased communist leader Chin Peng via the Penang International Airport in Bayan Lepas.
A Malaysian from Penang and a Hong Kong national, who took a flight from Bangkok, were arrested on arrival at the Penang airport at 10.30pm.
However, police later found that the two were only having paraphernalia of the former communist leader.
Security forces were mobilised and the airport was put under heavy guard after the tip-off.
The police only found a portrait of Chin Peng, eight digital video discs, 11 souveniers, a cap displaying a communist emblem and 13 books and documents, all linked to communism and Chin Peng.

Chin Peng died at the age of 88 on Sept 16, which was coincidentally Malaysia Day.

Chin Peng is dead, stop twisting facts, family spokesman tells Umno
Chin Peng’s family has lashed out at Mingguan Malaysia and Umno for claiming the date of his death had been altered so that it would coincide with Malaysia Day.
A family spokesman, Lee Chong, described the report by the Umno-controlled Mingguan Malaysia as mischievous and disrespectful.
“He has passed away. Why can’t they leave him to rest in peace? Even a day before he is scheduled to be cremated, the Malaysian government still wants to spin stories,” he said.
“I heard about the report in Mingguan Malaysia from a Malaysian reporter. I couldn’t believe it and read it online to see for myself.
“This latest spin from Mingguan Malaysia shows how low Umno will stoop in order to discredit an individual who no longer poses a threat to them or Malaysia.”

IS UTUSAN UP TO NO GOOD? AGAIN?
Malaysiakini

A news report by Utusan Malaysia today speculated that the actual date of former Communist Part of Malaya (CPM) secretary-general Chin Peng’s death was manipulated to coincide with Malaysia Day.
In a report deadlined Kuala Lumpur and quoting an anonymous source, the report said that Chin Peng was believed to have died on the afternoon of Sept 15, while Thai news reports said he died on 6.20am the next day.
The source reportedly told the daily that this was planned by unspecified groups to draw a link between Chin Peng and nationalism. The report gave no clues as to the source’s background or affiliation.
…
The same Utusan report also claimed that Chin Peng left a will at the wake which urged youths to “struggle for idealism”.
“What was left by Chin Peng is very dangerous because it may bring more (security) threats to the country, especially among the youths, even though (Chin Peng’s) struggle was cruel and inhumane,” said the source.

IT’S LEE KUAN YEW’S 90TH BIRTHDAY TODAY
He receives a standing ovation for 30 seconds!

Standing ovation in Parliament for Lee Kuan Yew on his 90th birthday
By Jeanette Tan | Yahoo Newsroom – 4 hours ago
He was wheeled into parliament at 4:20pm, just as Monday’s session was about to be adjourned for the day.
Minister for Social and Family development Chan Chun Sing was in the middle of his response to an adjournment motion on children in disadvantaged families when he paused mid-sentence as three men wheeled Lee Kuan Yew to his seat in the first row facing the cabinet, between Lam Pin Min and Mah Bow Tan.
As he was unable to stand on his own, the three men helped lift him out of his silver wheelchair and into his seat. Wearing his signature black New Balance sneakers, long black socks and regular Parliamentary attire of a white shirt, black pants and a plain black jacket, Lee was there for a special reason.
Singapore’s first prime minister, who turned 90 on Monday, was celebrated for his long service in Parliament, as well as his contributions to the country, and was given a 30-second standing ovation by MPs present — some of whom arrived at around 4pm seemingly just to witness the occasion.
…
He also added that Lee had made special effort to be present on Monday afternoon, “against his doctor’s advice”, sparking laughter from the members present. Lee himself cracked a smile.
Moments later, however, Ng concluded his speech to rousing applause and as the members stood in ovation, including those who were present in the public gallery, Lee himself moved to stand, and was helped up by four others including Mah and Lam.

IT’S CHIN PENG’S DEATH DAY TODAY.
NO, DON’T LET HIS ASHES BE BROUGHT TO MALAYSIA!
WE DIDN’T WANT CHIN PENG IN MALAYSIA WHEN HE WAS ALIVE; AND WE DON’T WANT HIS ASHES EITHER NOW THAT HE IS DEAD!
It is not about Chin Peng’s wants or wishes. When alive, his wants and wishes were unimportant. Now that he is dead, his wants and wishes are even less important.
The wants and wishes of a dead Chin Peng pale in comparison with the wants and wishes of those who suffered so terribly from Chin Peng’s terrorism. The innocent dead would cry out for his blood if they could speak! Their family and kin don’t want his ashes to come into Malaysia.

ON THIS MALAYSIA DAY, CHIN PENG, EX-COMMUNIST PARTY OF MALAYA CHIEF, DIED IN BANGKOK. He was responsible for The Emergency.
The Emergency remains the bloodiest time in the country’s modern history. Some 10,000 people are believed to have been killed.
Whatever you may say or think about Chin Peng, I consider him an evil man, responsible for more suffering than anyone could forgive or forget.

Former Malayan communist chief Chin Peng dies in Bangkok at age 90 (Updated)
…
PETALING JAYA: Chin Peng, former secretary-general of the Malayan Communist Party (MCP), died at a hospital in Bangkok on Monday morning. He was 90 years old, the Bangkok Post reported.
He died of old age and was pronounced dead at 6.20am, reports said.
His relatives will perform religious rites for him on Friday, the daily said.
Chin Peng led the MCP’s guerrilla insurgency and fought against British and Commonwealth forces to establish an independent Communist state.
The insurgency officially ended on Dec 2, 1989 when the Malaysian government signed a peace treaty with MCP, less than a month after the Berlin Wall came down.
He lived in exile in Thailand for more than five decades and was not permitted to return in Malaysia.

Chin Peng’s Death : A Brief History
———————————————————————

Yuen (right) would eventually rise through the ranks to become Perak police chief and later Sarawak police chief, where he battled insurgents in both states.
Death of Chin Peng is simply a matter of fact. He was lucky the Malaysian govt permitted him peace of mind to live his life in exile and in peace despite the atrocities he committed on a mammoth scale against innocent civilians from Malaya and Singapore.
To my mind as I had occasions to visit Malaya several times then to visit my grandfather who was a plantation manager who was killed later he was the leader of an unnecessary uprising and at best was an opportunist led by greed of wealth as Malaya was no.1 exporter of tin and rubber.
Had he been a bona fide independence fighter I would have added my voice to have him return to Malaysia.
His followers were led blindly into jungle alleys and misled into believing they would share in the wealth of Malaya once the British were defeated. They served his opportunism well and he jigged his way to safety in Thailand.
He has died and gone to his Maker – if he was honest in his ambitions then let him persuade his Maker.
