Education Ministry to probe bribery for teacher transfers claim
The Ministry of Education has set-up a special committee to investigate claims that teachers made payments through intermediaries for transfers.
“The Ministry of Education views this allegation, that teachers were forking out money to middlemen for getting transfers, very seriously,” the ministry said in a statement today.
It said the committee is set-up by the Daily School Management Division.
The ministry made the statement following a local newspaper report on Monday of rumours on a website that several parties were paying middlemen to get their transfers after feeling frustrated over their unsuccessful applications.
