Migrate if you are not happy, says Ridhuan Tee

BY LEE SHI-IAN
May 05, 2014

Controversial lecturer Dr Ridhuan Tee Abdullah today said those who were not happy living in Malaysia should pack their bags and head for greener pastures.

In his Sinar Harian column, Ridhuan said this was an easy issue for him – if Malaysia was not a paradise for certain parties, then they should leave.

“Why do these irresponsible parties not move abroad? Because Malaysia is heaven. Why are they still making insistent demands? Because they want a better heaven,” he said.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE IQ OF SOME OF THESE GUYS IS WAY DOWN THERE, SO LOOOOOOWWWW!

Surely, if China belongs to the Chinese, and India belongs to the Indians, Malaysia would belong to MALAYSIANS?

‘World must recognise M’sia belongs to Malays’

Islamic NGO Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) today demanded global recognition that Malaysia is the land of the Malays, claiming that scientific study had proven that the Malay civilisation was older than Angkor Wat or Borobudur.

“Like how the world recognises that China is for Chinese, India is for Indians, England for the English, Ireland is for the Irish, and Germany is for Germans, surely Malays have their own land,” Isma’s vice-president II Abdul Rahman Dali said in a statement today.

Claiming unspecified “scientific research”, Isma said that the Malay gene has been proven to exist before that of the Chinese.

“This region, which centres at the land of the Malays, is called the Cradle of Human Civilisation, which gave birth to other ethnicities.

“So it is valid that this land belongs to the Malays originally,” he said.

Find another country if you don’t want national schools, Perkasa tells Dong Zong

February 12, 2014

Malay rights group Perkasa has again resorted to its oft-used ”find another country” remark, this time to groups that purportedly do not support schools that promote national integration.

Perkasa education bureau chair Prof Mohd Amir Sharifuddin said this when commenting on United Chinese Schools Committee Association of Malaysia (Dong Zong) board of directors’ request to the government to recognise the United Examination Certificate (UEC).

Mohd Amir said endorsing the UEC examination would be going against the national education policy.

He called on the government to stop helping vernacular schools as they did not foster national integration.

“How can schools of different mediums aid integration? Find another country where there is such a practice,” he was quoted as saying by news portal Malaysiakini.

According to Amir, if the government endorsed the UEC, more Chinese students would be sent to Chinese-medium schools for secondary education, where the UEC is offered.

Comment on Facebook: I have left out the name.

When I read this letter in the STAR this morning, it ‘killed’ me of what been said about my alma mater. Having being a Victorian as well as serving on the Prefectorial Board…it sadden me that such a distinguished school has become home for ‘gangsterism’ which was never tolerated during the heydays. Correct me if I’m wrong, SMK Victoria is a ‘controlled’ school which means only the best gets in whether academically or athletically. So if this is the case, how come students are involved in gangsterism? I fully support the statement and stand made by former PIBG Chairman that Ministers, their Political Secretaries, Private Secretaries or PAs should stay away from interfering with the school administration unless injustice has been done to the students.

Amid accusations of political interference in a certain school, Mary Yap, insists that she places education above politics. If it’s true, hurray for her! If it’s really true…

Mary Yap: Parents of SMK Victoria students entitled to express opinions

PUTRAJAYA: Parents of SMK Victoria students allegedly affected by “political interference” are entitled to voice their opinions, said Datuk Mary Yap.

“What was published in The Star was an opinion being expressed, but as far as I am concerned I would place education above politics,” the Deputy Education Minister said at a press conference at the Education Ministry on Wednesday.

Yap was commenting on a letter published in The Star on Feb 4 titled “Appalled over political interference” written by SMK Victoria Parent-Teachers Association president Datuk Dr Nik Zamri Majid.

The letter touched on the intervention of political secretaries or press secretaries or private secretaries of a minister when the school decided to expel students due to discipline problems.

Appalled over political interference

I HAVE been the president of the Parent Teachers Association for SMK Victoria for two terms and in the two terms I am appalled at the way the political secretaries or press secretaries or private secretaries of a minister interferred with the school administration by intervening in the school decisions to expel students for indiscipline.

SMK Victoria has been a subject of gangsterism and the police have been called in on many occasions, including the beating of a minister’s son in 2012.

When the school expelled students, they went straight to the office of the minister. Last year, the school was “instructed” to take back five students.

Do they not think of the victims? Do they not think of the more than 900 other students who do not want gangsterism in the school?

Do they not think of the effect on the teachers, who do not want them in school? Do they know how many students moved school because of this action? Do they not think of the morale of the teachers and parents?

Two months ago, the school sacked five students for beating other students.

The parents met the school authorities and agreed to transfer their children to other schools While three of them moved school, one datuk decided not to.

He went to the minister’s office and got everyone involved.

He even claimed that the PIBG, the Board of Governors and Old Boys Association supported them.

Then, last week an entourage of officers from the ministry and department came, questioning the discipline teachers and principal. We, the PIBG, BoG and VIOBA and Foundation went out in full force to confront the officers giving every reason why we do not want these five students back in VI.

The way they conducted the “investigations” was just like the public prosecutors questioning criminals.

They did not care that one of the victims was the son of a director at the Education Ministry.

The discipline teachers are very upset. What about the parents of the 900 other students?

I would like to remind the secretaries, please think of the majority, not the minority.

Ask the minister whose son was beaten up what he thought of the matter then.

Netizens snipe Wanita Umno over ‘leave country’ remark
  • 12:18PM Dec 29, 2013

Angry netizens have flooded Wanita Umno’s Facebook page over Kuantan Wanita Umno chief Zaiton Mat’s remark that those unhappy with BN’s policies should leave the country.

Over the past 24 hours, angry messages, coupled with dodgy advertisements for sexual performance enhancers, began appearing on the page soon after news of Zaiton’s remarks spread.

Many complainants said it was common for Umno leaders to dismiss their critics by asking them to migrate, but this sort of attitude was undemocratic.

“Malaysia belongs to all Malaysians and every citizen has the right to express their true feelings about what they feel the country needs.

“The government is chosen by the people, so what right do you all have to tell us to leave?” wrote Facebook user Jeff Jun Wei.

Another Facebook user by the name of Aris Sanusi wrote that Zaiton’s remarks and similar ones made by other Umno leaders are causing more anti-BN sentiments.

“So keep on making ‘kalau tak suka (if you don’t like…)’ statements. Continue to ‘syok sendiri‘ and let’s see where this goes.

“I’ve been supporting BN all my life, but for GE14, BN will definitely not get my vote. Enough is enough,” he said.

Leave Malaysia if you don’t like BN, says Wanita Umno leader

December 28, 2013

An Umno leader has called on those who disliked the Barisan Nasional-led government to leave the country.

Kuantan Wanita Umno division chief Datuk Zaiton Mat (pic) said it was easier for certain people to focus on Putrajaya’s shortcomings and ignore the efforts made to build peace and harmony in the country.

“It is better for all of us to work together to make this country a better place.

Conduct unbecoming a minister

Idris Jusoh’s ‘send your children abroad’ statement ridiculous and arrogant, say Pakatan MPs and the Tamil Foundation.

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan MPs as well as the Tamil Foundation expressed incredulity over Education Minister II Idris Jusoh’s remarks to critics of the Education Blueprint.

PAS research centre executive director Dzulkefly Ahmad slammed Idris’ statement as ridiculous and arrogant and most regrettable.

“The last person I would expect to be saying such knee-jerk abrasive response would be the education minister who must exude wisdom, composure and tenacity.

“We hope the proponents of the education blueprint will stop throwing tantrums as this is not the first time but it better be the last. Otherwise, they are at liberty to graciously resign en masse,” he said.

Yesterday, Idris said that the ministry will carry on with its National Education Blueprint 2013-2015 plan and hinted that those who are not satisfied with it can send their children overseas.

Look who’s unhappy with our education system! – Ravinder Singh

September 11, 2013
Latest Update: September 11, 2013 03:06 pm

Well, well, thank you Education Minister II Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh for confirming what many Malaysians have long known.

Please tell us dear minister, how many children of how many elites in the country are attending Sekolah Rendah / Menengah Kebangsaan in Malaysia?

Do us a favour please. Besides having leaders of the country declare their assets, get them to also declare the schools their children are attending.

When the rakyat could see that the children of the leaders are also attending the local schools, you will not need any other promotional campaigns to tell Malaysians that our local schools are “setanding” (i.e. of equal standing) with schools in advanced countries such as Germany and the USA.

Teresa slams Idris for ‘overseas study’ statement
1:47PM Sep 11, 2013

Seputeh MP Teresa Kok has slammed Idris Jusoh for stating those unhappy with the country’s education system could opt to send their children abroad, saying it was the government’s duty to “sell” its policies.

NONEPointing out that nobody expects all government policies to “please everyone”, Kok (right), in a statement, described the Education Minister II’s statement as “unbecoming of a minister”

She then questioned if Idris’ stance would mean the same can be asked of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the latter’s teaching of science and mathematics in English (PPSMI) policy was reversed by the later government.

“The policy (PPSMI) did not please everyone, so my first question is could Mahathir tell those people who were not happy to send their children to study abroad?” she questioned.

“This policy reversal (back to Bahasa Malaysia) did not please everyone, so my second question to Idris is can the government tell the people, including Dr Mahathir, to send his grandchildren to study abroad if they opposed the government’s decision?”

Study abroad if you’re unhappy with blueprint

Alfian ZM Tahir | September 10, 2013

Government will not be cowed by threats from Chinese groups in implementing the National Education Blueprint.

SHAH ALAM: Despite facing legal action from Dong Zong (United Chinese School Committees Association), the Educational Ministry will continue with its plan to increase the teaching hours of Bahasa Malaysia in all schools as stated in the new Malaysian Education Blueprint launched by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin on Sept 6.

It was reported last week that Dong Zong and some other Chinese groups may take legal action against the Education Ministry, including holding peaceful rallies, should the National Education Blueprint 2013-2025 remain detrimental to Chinese education.

According to a news report, Dong Zong president Yap Sian Tian was not optimistic with what is in store for primary Chinese schools, seeing it as a step to realise the government’s ultimate objective of implementing the monolingual education policy.

Speaking at an open dialogue forum this morning, Education Minister II Idris Jusoh said that his ministry will carry on with its plan and hinted that those who are not satisfied with the blueprint can send their kids overseas.
