Federal Territories MCA division’s karaoke campaign video, arguably the most memorable campaign material during the 13th general election, has made it on Australian prime time TV.
Last Wednesday on “Gruen Nation“, a humorous current affairs talk show on state-owned ABC, panelists examined Australia’s past and current political advertisements and aired the karaoke clip while discussing about singing politicians.
The clip in question featured MCA’s candidates singing John Paul Young’s ‘Love Is In The Air’, which host Wil Anderson described as the “worst political karaoke video of 2013″.

MCA went on to halve its seats in the Malaysian parliament,” he added. “And John Paul Young is turning in his grave, and he was not even dead until he heard that.”

GE13: Love is definitely in the air for Frankie
BARELY a week ago, Bukit Bintang Barisan Nasional candidate Frankie Gan was virtually unknown to Malaysian voters and even the launch of his music video went almost unnoticed.
Since the first YouTube clip of him singing at the close of his first ceramah at Razak Mansion was uploaded last Saturday, other clips of Gan’s singing prowess have started appearing online.
Additionally, Gan also launched his General Election album, which also contains a VCD of his music videos a scant two hours after he filed his papers on Nomination Day.
Now, Gan has become a GE13 meme of sorts, as Malaysians outside the Klang Valley have also picked up on clips of Gan singing, such as the cover of the disco hit Love is In The Air.

These are the few usual methods politicians use to woo voters’ hearts during the general election campaigning period.
Stepping right out of the box is Bukit Bintang BN candidate .
Frankie, together with several other fellow MCA candidates, started singing to rope in the votes their way and put up their karaoke-style video on Youtube.
The video which was put up on April 21, featured the MCA 1Malaysia Task Force Team singing ‘Love is in the air’.
