One-stop centre gets thumbs-up
CONVENIENT: More than 30,000 visitors have utilised the centre since its launch on Friday
ALOR STAR: THE Kedah five-storey Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) has became Kedahans’ new favourite stop.
Visitors gave the thumbs-up to the one-stop centre where they could carry out various transactions with the government and private sectors.
The Kedah UTC, which was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak last Friday, had received more than 30,000 visitors who came to pay bills, settle summons, carry out applications, as well as seek consultation.
Checks by New Straits Times recently showed that the visitors lauded the government’s initiative to house government agencies, private companies and banks under one roof for the convenience of the people in the state.

Kedah UTC sets new milestone
ALOR STAR: The Urban Transformation Centre (UTC), a one-stop centre for various agencies, has set a new benchmark for the government delivery system as no other country provides such a service to its people.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak described the UTC, which operates from 8.30am to 10.30pm daily, except for public holidays, as a one-of-a-kind platform that optimised government services under one roof.
Najib said the UTC, which was born out of a brainstorming session through the National Blue Ocean Strategy, reflected the government’s creative and innovative approaches in pushing the benchmark of its delivery system to the people.
“These UTCs not only boost the people’s convenience by pooling various government agencies together, but also ensure that they provide efficient services to customers.
“For example, one can get his international passport done within just one or two hours at the Immigration Department counter in UTC,” Najib said at the opening of the Kedah UTC Complex here yesterday.
