What the *&%^*& – here’s the Namewee you didn’t expect
So does he have any Malay friends? Without hesitation, Namewee sniggered and said, “Got. Did you know that my grandmother is a Nyonya? My mother speaks fluent Bahasa Malaysia. My neighbours in Muar are mostly Malays and my father’s parents run a small kopitiam selling Malay food. A lot of our Malay friends go there.
“I have so many Malay friends that when we have open house during Chinese New Year, most of those who visit our house are Malays. We used to joke around among races and there was no tension. But now, people can’t seem to accept that. This is all because of politics.”
…
“You would be surprised I have a lot of haters and they are Chinese,” he said as he raised an eyebrow.
Why? “To the conservative Chinese, they can’t accept that I sing and rap songs which are not just about love. I sing and rap about everything. But to them, Chinese songs must be love songs,” he said.

Nazri: I may not be able to save Namewee again
On rapper Namewee’s YouTube video posting decrying the decision to postpone the screening of The New Village pending further review by the Film Censorship Board, Nazri said it showed that Namewee did not understand the country’s history.
He said Namewee, living in a multiracial country like Malaysia, should take into account the sensitivities of other races.
“I also would like to remind him: do not cross the line as I will not be around next time to defend him,” he said, referring to his defence of Namewee in the wake of the latter’s video titled Nah!! in 2010.

A group of 50 protesters from Malay rights group Perkasa gathered outside the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH) in Kuala Lumpur tonight to protest against controversial rapper Namewee as he was about to speak at a youth forum.
The angry crowd, brandishing Malaysian flags, then proceeded to burn enlarged photos of Namewee.
Superimposed on Namewee’s face in the photos was a pig’s snout.
Shouts of ‘Namewee babi’ and ‘pengkhianat’ (traitor) were also heard.
