Eurasian Maria-Anna Zenieris wins Miss World Singapore 2013
Eurasian Maria-Anna Zenieris, 18, was crowned Miss World Singapore 2013 on Sunday at Pan Pacific Hotel. The winner beat 14 other finalists after competing in the swimwear, evening wear and question-and-answer segments. The half-Chinese, half-Greek graduate from United World College also won a $3,000 in cash as well as a contract with Asia Music People worth about $30,000. The pageant’s second and first runners-up were Rachel Leng and Elizabeth Houghton respectively. Zenieris represent Singapore in the Miss World pageant on 28 September in Jakarta, Indonesia.

DRAMA at Miss World finals: cops called to deal with ‘PERVERT’
The drama continued at the Miss World Singapore (MWS) 2013 pageant even after it ended on Sunday night at the Pan Pacific Singapore hotel.
This time round, there was an unsung hero in runner-up Elizabeth Houghton’s father, Mr Adrian Houghton.
The 41-year-old operations director was alerted by his mother-in-law to a stranger who had approached his 17-year-old god-daughter, who was with his nine-year-old niece, for her contact details.
It ended with Mr Houghton calling the police.
A police spokesman said that investigations are ongoing.

Mr Houghton told The New Paper: “My gut instinct told me that this man was a pervert. I wanted to beat him up because this is my god-daughter and niece we’re talking about.”
Around 11pm that night, Mr Houghton’s mother-in-law had told him that a stranger – a bespectacled man who was around 1.65m-tall – was talking to the two girls.
Mr Houghton said his god-daughter told him that the man had taken her picture with his mobile phone, and asked for her number so that he could send it to her.
He said: “She wouldn’t give him her number but still gave him her e-mail address, so luckily we were there to stop it from going any further.

Mr Houghton then confronted the man and made him delete his goddaughter’s details from his phone.

Dirty offers have been made to the Miss World Singapore (MWS) 2013 finalists via their personal and MWS Facebook pages, and they are coming forward to warn young women against these sex predators.
Miss Kayla Wong (above), 19, was offered $8,000 a month to be a social escort while Miss Krizzia Sayson, 20, was offered $4,000 an hour for sex.
Both models said they were appalled by the overt sexual harassment.
But event organiser Edmund Ooi of Asia Music People said he wasn’t surprised that the MWS finalists were being propositioned for sex.
He said: “The pageant makes these women more valuable to the predators, as they see them as a prize catch as they have the title to go with it.”
