Four charged, face death penalty under Kidnapping Act
SHAH ALAM (July 22, 2013): Four men, who allegedly scrawled the words “Saya hina agama Islam” (I insulted Islam) on the chest of a cyber cafe worker they thought was connected to a controversial Facebook posting relating to Islam, were charged in the magistrate’s court here today with kidnapping him.
Mohamad Asri Mohamad Jamil, 22, Mohd Mazli Sazeli, 26, Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman, 29, and Agus Hariyanto Mahmod Hosen, 27, were charged with committing the offence involving Ng Mun Tatt, 21, at Restoran Muneer in Section 25, Shah Alam at 4.30am on July 15.

Four charged with kidnap in “Saya hina Islam” case
Four men who allegedly abducted and assaulted a youth before writing the words “Saya hina agama Islam” on his chest were charged with kidnapping at the Shah Alam magistrate’s court today.
No plea was taken.
It was reported that the victim, Ng Mun Tatt, 21, had said that he was abducted for money and that the words “Saya hina agama Islam” was a tactic by his assailants so that he would be beaten by the public if he tried to escape from them.
The photograph of Ng’s chest was circulated widely on the internet.

Four suspects will be charged this afternoon in connection with the abduction of Ng Mun Tatt. The case is said to be related to insulting Islam.
In a statement, attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail said the four will be charged at the Shah Alam magistrate’s court under the Kidnapping Act 1961.
He also added that two other suspects are still at large.
