ntv7 charity run mishap, car driver detained
KUALA LUMPUR (July 9, 2013): The driver of the car involved in the hit and run injury of three participants of ntv7 charity run in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya two days ago, only lodged a police report on the incident today.
The 29-year-old driver, who is a landscape designer, lodged the report at the Petaling Jaya traffic police station at 1am and was arrested about two hours later.
Petaling Jaya deputy district police officer Supt Fadil Marsus said the suspect, from Taiping, Perak, was driving his sister’s car.
“Based on his report, he had hit participants of the ntv7 Feel Good Run and then fled the scene and went back to a friend’s house because he feared being hit by witnesses,” he told Bernama here today.
He said the suspect was detained for further investigation. – Bernama

Three women runners hit by a car at charity run (Updated)
PETALING JAYA: Three women runners were injured when they were hit by a car in a charity run organised by NTV7 in Bandar Utama on Sunday.
The victims, Lim Lee Ling, 43, Lee Shiau Foon, 33, and Lee Su San, 24, were hurt when a red car rammed into them after making a u-turn at 8am.
Eyewitnesses said the driver of the Proton Iswara did not stop and drove away.
According to traffic police, traffic wardens were present at the junction where the accident occurred at KM14 of the route.
“The warden had allowed the car to make a u-turn and directed it to keep to its lane. After the car turned, it suddenly sped up and drove into the lane for runners and hit the three victims,” said an officer from the Kota Damansara traffic police branch.
Traffic cones separated one road lane for runners and traffic wardens as well as traffic policemen were stationed along the route.
St John’s Ambulance personnel responded to the accident and stabilised the victims before they were brought to the medical tent.
The doctor in charge said all three were conscious and sustained scrapes and bruises.
“One of the victim complained of pain on her back and another was giddy and vomited,” said the doctor.
They were sent to University Malaya Medical Center later and traffic police investigators have visited the scene.
The run was organised by NTV7 as part of their 15th anniversary celebrations.
Group general manager for NTV7 and 8TV Airin Zainal said organisers had taken all precautions to ensure the safety of participants.
Organisers said the driver has 24 hours to lodge a report.

Lim Lee Ling, 43, Lee Shiau Foon, 33, and Lee Su San 24 sustained various injuries but initial press reports suggests that they might not be seriously injured.
They were later sent to the University Malaya Medical Center for treatment, where they also met traffic police investigators.
According to Star Online, eye-witnesses claimed that the trio were struck by a red Proton Iswara which did not stop after hitting the three runners.
Event organisers also told the publication that the necessary precautionary measures had been in place and urged the driver of the vehicle to lodge a police report.
The event was organised by NTV7 as part of its 15th anniversary celebration.
