Photoshopped photo used in attempt to portray Joe Biden as touching a little boy inappropriately: Watch the video to see the truth

Fact Check: Biden DID NOT behave inappropriately with child, viral pic is photoshopped

A picture of US President Joe Biden with a child was shared with a claim that Biden behaved inappropriately with the boy. However, we found that the viral picture is photoshopped.

Dheeshma Puzhakkal

New Delhi,UPDATED: Jan 1, 2023 07:10 IST

The significant difference between the two images is the positioning of Biden’s hands and the point at which the boy stood. The boy in the original photo was cut out and moved up, so as to place his shirt over Biden’s hand. In fact, Biden’s right hand was also cut out. Although it was done so badly, a part of it is still visible if you look closely. At the same time, the other boy standing behind the boy talking to Biden was completely photoshopped out. If you compare the fence and the road in that part of the photos, you can see blurriness in the viral photo there.

In-Person Schooling and Youth Suicide: Evidence from School Calendars and Pandemic School Closures | NBER

Posted on January 1, 2023 by weehingthong

This study has established a correlation between teen suicides and in-person schooling.

*An important point raised at the end of the synopsis: Auxiliary analyses using Google Trends queries and the Youth Risk Behavior Survey suggests that bullying victimization may be an important mechanism.

In statistics, correlation or dependence is any statistical relationship, whether causal or not, between two random variables or bivariate data. Wikipedia

Teen suicides plummeted in March '20, when schools shut due to COVID. Returning from online to in-person schooling was associated with a 12-18% increase in teen suicides, from @benconomics @SDSUCHEPS and Schaller https://t.co/A4PrL7UmoX pic.twitter.com/1FFiKL1ywV

It’s not just about ‘the slap’, says Hannah Yeoh on ministry’s probe into volleyball viral video

By Fuad Nizam – January 5, 2023 @ 2:38pm

KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh said the ministry’s investigation into an incident where a volleyball coach was caught on video slapping two of his female charges went beyond the act of slapping.

She said the probe, instead, is to delve further into longstanding practices which may have made such acts the norm.

“We have started the investigation. The investigation is not to look at whether the slap happened, we all saw it.

“This investigation goes deeper than that. It is about looking into the practices which may have been happening in the volleyball team,” she told reporters during a visit to the National Sports Institute in Bukit Jalil, here today.

Yeoh said the fate of the coach will be decided once the investigation concludes.

“Once the investigation has been completed, I will share the findings with everyone,” she said.

2. He also urged athletes and former sportspeople to come forward with their experiences of abuse.

"The last thing we want is to just come out hard on this without educating society. Hopefully it will lead people to understand the Safe Sports Act better."

Physical punishment of children, whether in the home or in school, brings little benefit as a form of discipline. It is usually harmful to the child. There are many better ways to discipline and support children. https://t.co/BtD9AX1Ta5

“I have forgiven the coach,” said Abd Halim Bakar, father of a 14-year-old volleyball player who was slapped by the Melaka coach.

"War is never an option to solve problems" says Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen in New Year's Day speech.

Does Xi Jinping have a new speechwriter? Less boasting about the CCP and a more humble tone. Starting with this uncharacteristic sentence:
“The Chinese economy has remained the 2nd largest in the world” pic.twitter.com/cF60elEDPM
— Ken Moriyasu (@kenmoriyasu) December 31, 2022

3/ “It is only natural for different people to have different concerns or different views on the same issues”

(Acknowledges the protests) pic.twitter.com/d7AqfI4BUL
— Ken Moriyasu (@kenmoriyasu) December 31, 2022

5/ A nudge to China’s youth, in effect, telling them that lying flat is not the answer.
“For China to develop further, our younger people must step forward and take on their responsibilities”@lajohnstondr pic.twitter.com/wLBazw1lks
— Ken Moriyasu (@kenmoriyasu) December 31, 2022

7/ And finally a nod to the people working on New Year’s Eve.

I think the new speechwriter is better than the last one.

Anyway, Happy New Year everyone! pic.twitter.com/J855gRZyAz
— Ken Moriyasu (@kenmoriyasu) December 31, 2022

7/ Also mild on Taiwan.
“The people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are members of one and the same family. I sincerely hope that our compatriots on both sides of the Strait will work together with a unity of purpose to jointly foster lasting prosperity of the Chinese nation” pic.twitter.com/sCjNaNvuEm
