It’s “sudden death”: Sergeant found dead, with “self-inflicted gunshot wounds” in head, neck and chest at the Bayan Lepas police station


The police confirmed that the incident of a police officer with the rank of Sergeant who was found dead with three gunshot wounds at the Bayan Lepas Police Station here, last February 19, was sudden death (SDR).

State Police Chief Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the investigation into the incident has been completed and there is no criminal element.




GEORGE TOWN: A police sergeant was found dead with gunshot wounds behind a police station in Bayan Lepas.

Balik Pulau OCPD Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal said the 51-year-old was found at about 3.30pm on Sunday (Feb 19).

“The deceased was found with gunshot wounds to his neck, chest and also head,” he said in a statement, adding that a pistol was found in the incident.

Supt Kamarul said the deceased was an officer at the Bayan Lepas police station.

He called on the public not to speculate on the matter as the case is still being investigated.
