Man killed in Damansara Perdana condo fire

PETALING JAYA: A man said to be in his 30’s is believed to have burnt to death after a condominium unit caught fire in Damansara Perdana here.
The body of the man was discovered near the main door of the unit which led police and the Fire and Rescue Department to believe that he was trying to escape when he collapsed and died.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said police were alerted to the incident which occurred at around 9.12pm on Tuesday (Jan 31).
“The fire occurred in a unit on the 21st floor of the condominium.
“Initially the Fire and Rescue Department faced difficulty putting out the fire due to water pressure issues,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 1).
He said when the fire was put out they found the body of a man believed to be in his 30’s lying near the front door.
“The body suffered at least 40% burns and skin and clothing samples have been taken to help identify the victim.
