Former MIC deputy president Subramaniam passes away

PETALING JAYA: Former MIC deputy president Tan Sri S. Subramaniam, 78, has passed away.

According to his son Sunther, Subramaniam died about 8pm on Tuesday (July 5).

“My father died peacefully in his sleep,” he said.

According to Sunther, his father had been bedridden for almost 11 years after suffering a stroke.

He served two terms as Damansara MP from 1974 to 1982 and Segamat MP for four terms with his final term being the 1999 General Election.

He was ousted by Datuk Seri G. Palanivel as MIC deputy president in the 2006 party polls.
