KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 — A government doctor who had been on the frontlines battling Covid-19 has died, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah confirmed today.
However, he refuted claims that the doctor succumbed to fatigue amid news of the public healthcare system buckling under the flood of four digit daily new Covid-19 cases.
“No, it’s not fatigue. He was diagnosed to have brain aneurysm a few months ago.
“He also tested negative for Covid-19,” Dr Noor Hisham told Malay Mail when contacted.
A charity group claimed yesterday that Dr Ali Noor Hassan, one of its members and a medical officer, had died from exhaustion while on duty at the Covid-19 battlefront.
The group, calling itself Skuad Pengurusan Jenazah Malaysia or Malay for “Malaysian Funeral Management Squad”, said it was informed by Dr Ali’s relative of his death through Facebook.
The group also shared on is Facebook page what it said was the last picture of Dr Ali taken by his friend before his death.

Berita sedih itu disampaikan menerusi hantaran dimuat naik Skuad Pengurusan Jenazah Malaysia (SPJM) di Facebook (FB), semalam.
Menerusi hantaran itu, SPJM memaklumkan, pihaknya dimaklumkan mengenai kematian Allahyarham Dr Ali Noor Hassan melalui akaun FB miliknya.
“Arwah adalah ahli berdaftar SPJM dan mengikuti SPJM sejak 2018 serta menyertai Kursus Pengurusan Jenazah SPJM di Surau Quba Sentul pada dua tahun lalu.
“Dr Ali dikhabarkan sebagai seorang ahli khidmat dakwah dan sudah dua kali menyertai ijtimak atau perhimpunan jemaah tabligh di Beaufort, Sabah.
“Setiap kali ijtimak besar jemaah tabligh di Sabah, Dr Ali akan datang dari Selangor berkhidmat secara sukarela sebagai petugas perubatan bagi peserta ijtimak,” katanya.
Menurutnya, SPJM kehilangan seorang ahli yang begitu komited berkhidmat untuk ummah.
“Semoga Allah SWT menerima segala amal kebajikan beliau dan mengampuni segala dosanya yang lampau. Salam takziah buat ahli keluarganya,” katanya.
Dalam hantaran itu, SPJM berkongsi gambar terakhir Dr Ali yang sempat diambil rakannya sebelum beliau jatuh sakit kerana beban kerja terlalu penat dan letih selain kekurangan masa untuk beristirehat selepas bertugas di barisan hadapan KKM menangani Covid-19.
