KUALA LUMPUR: Former Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) director Datuk Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Narrashid was charged at the Sessions Court with 14 graft charges involving the payments for his car instalment totalling RM23,540.68.
Noor Ehsanuddin, 56, who is also former Kota Tinggi MP, pleaded not guilty to the charges read to him before judge Azman Ahmad, today.
On the first to the 14th count, the accused was charged in his capacity as a board of director of Felda, with receiving a valuable thing in a form of payment for the instalment of his car totalling RM23,540.68 via cheques from Karya Hidayah Sdn Bhd, a printing company that has connection with accused’s official function.
The offences were allegedly committed at Affin Bank Bhd, Taman Maluri branch at Jalan Mahkota, Cheras, here, between Feb 10, 2014 and Nov 9, 2015.
It was understood that the car was a BMW 3 series model.
Deputy public prosecutor Nor Diana Nor Azwa proposed a RM30,000 bail for all 14 charges in one surety.
She also proposed for the accused to report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office each month and for his passport to be surrendered to the court.
Nor Diana also told the court that the accused will be facing more charges tomorrow at the Shah Alam Sessions Court.
Meanwhile, counsel Datuk R. Thrichelvam who represented Noor Ehsanuddin told the court that it will be inconvenient for his client, who is a businessman, to report to the MACC office each month as the latter needs to travel around for business matters.
“I agree with the bail amount and my client has already surrendered his passport to the court when he was charged on Sunday. My client is a businessman and it would be inconvenient for him to travel if he needs to report to the MACC office each month.
The judge then set RM30,000 bail for all the charges and ordered the accused to report to the MACC office on the first day of each month.
The case will be up for mention on March 14.
On Sunday, Noor Ehsanuddin was charged at the Johor Baru Sessions Court with two counts of receiving RM50,000 and a parcel of land as bribes from the same company in 2013 and 2014.
