POLICE had every reason to search the house of Rahah Mohamad Noahyesterday as part of their investigations into 1MDB, said Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim.
He said former prime minister Najib Razak’s mother Rahah was cooperative and police were polite and sought her permission before the raid.
“We went to the house after we received enough information from our investigations.
“We felt that the house must be searched,” Noor Rashid told the media after an event today.
“We did not barge into her house. We were professional and we advised Tun Rahah and we received very good feedback,” he added.
Noor Rashid disclosed that no documents or items were taken from the house.
Najib’s son, Norashman, vented his anger at police for raiding his grandmother’s home yesterday.

.
Najib’s daughter Nooryana also took to social media over the incident.
“We wonder why there are no pictures of the raid. The reason? Because nothing was found and the cops left empty-handed.
“Is it necessary for an 87-year-old woman to go through such a bitter experience?” she asked in her Instagram post.
Rahah lives in Jalan Eaton in Kuala Lumpur. The raid was reportedly carried out by a 14-man team.
It took place at about the same time Najib was in the sessions court facing fresh corruption and money-laundering charges.

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak’s son Norashman has vented his anger at police for raiding the residence of his grandmother, Tun Rahah Mohamed Noah, today.
“Please leave my grandmother out of this!! Raided her house when we were in court??” Norashman, or better known as Ashman, posted on Instagram.
His post was accompanied by FMT’s article of the raid at the residence on Jalan Eaton in Kuala Lumpur.
Najib’s daughter Nooryana also took to social media over the incident.
“We wonder why there are no pictures of the raid. The reason? Because nothing was found and (the cops) left empty-handed.
“Is it necessary for an 87-year-old woman to go through such a bitter experience?” she asked in her Instagram post.
She said she understood that the police were following orders but wondered if they did not have the slightest sympathy towards an elderly woman who is the wife of a former prime minister and had sacrificed a lot for the country.
“Isn’t the new Malaysia supposed to be a sign of our society’s progress? It is not political revenge but political harmony that will unite us so that we can all move forward,” she wrote.
