Canvas maker posed as handsome man on Facebook to get nude pictures
Yeo was jailed for 13 months on Friday (Nov 10), after pleading guilty to five charges, including mischief and insulting the modesty of a woman. Ten other charges were taken into consideration in sentencing.
One of his victims was a 48-year-old woman who was known to his family.
After receiving his Facebook message in June 2016, she started chatting with Yeo, who claimed to be a widower living in Redhill with two children. They subsequently exchanged telephone numbers and continued chatting through WhatsApp.
When she sent pictures of herself to him, he recognised her to be someone known to his family. But that did not deter him.
He still got her to send over nude pictures, and she did so over the next few days.
After receiving them, he wanted to have sex with her but hesitated because he looked different from his Facebook profile picture.
So Yeo devised a plan to force the victim to find five men to have sex with, hoping that he would eventually be one of them.
From June 14 to 15, 2016, he sent her multiple WhatsApp messages to harass her.
Among other things, he threatened to expose her pictures to others, including her friends and relatives, if the victim blocked him. He also threatened to place her nude pictures outside her home so her husband would see them.
The victim was shocked by his messages, especially since she had not revealed any of her personal particulars to him. She blocked him on Facebook and WhatsApp, and made a police report.
A few days later, she made another report when she found an A4-size paper with a full frontal nude picture of herself on it, but with her face torn off. The picture was pasted at the gas meter outside her home. She immediately took it down.
Investigations showed that Yeo made such threatening communication by pasting the paper with the victim’s nude picture and the message – “Still block me, I will… we will see” – at the gas meter to harass her.
The victim’s son returned home that evening and found another piece of paper stuck on the wall. A message in Chinese stated: “Tomorrow if you don’t reply my message, I will post your big face at the door there”.
The victim made a further report. Yeo was arrested on Sept 19 last year.
Man jailed after posting neighbour’s naked photos outside her flat

SINGAPORE — He created a Facebook account to try and lure women into having sex with him, and one woman he befriended turned out to be his neighbour.
Things went sour very quickly after they got acquainted, and he ended up harassing her and pasting her nude photograph at her door.
On Friday (Nov 10), Alvin Yeo Pei Jin, 48, was sentenced to 13 months’ jail, after he admitted to two counts of criminal intimidation, one count each of intentional harassment and mischief, as well as one count of insulting the modesty of a woman.
Another 10 charges for similar offences were taken into account during sentencing.
The court heard that Yeo created a Facebook account — using the fake name of “Happy Tan” and a picture of a Taiwanese man he found off the Internet — to court women and obtain their nude photos, especially middle-aged Chinese woman with long hair.
Some time in early June last year, he hooked up with a 48-year-old woman. They exchanged phone numbers and chatted via WhatsApp.
When she sent him some photos of herself, he then recognised her to be his neighbour. He proceeded to ask for naked pictures of her and she also sent those.
He told her he wanted to have sex with her, but she was hesitant. Deputy Public Prosecutor Raja Mohan told the court that Yeo then devised a plan to force her to find five men and have sex with them, “in the hopes that he, as her neighbour and acquaintance, may be one of them”.
He told her later that he knew who she was and where she lived, and “disparaged (her) for being the kind of person to take such photographs for a handsome man, instead of being conservative,” the prosecutor told the court.
Yeo also told the woman “to wear a paper bag over her head” when she went to work.
By mid-June, she was inundated by his WhatsApp messages, so she decided to block him on the phone and on Facebook, and filed a police report.
Yeo was arrested by the police three months later at Changi Airport. His mobile phone was found to contain five videos, taken in December 2009, of an unknown woman showering in a bathroom.
Investigations revealed that he had taken videos of his ex-colleague showering in his company’s unisex toilet.
He had also threatened a 52-year-old woman whom he had met through Facebook, saying he would post her nude photos on the Internet if she did not want to have sex with him.
