Meeting with Dr M: Just YouTube it, Khairuddin tells Zahid
“Thirty-two million Malaysians want to know who is lying and who is telling the truth,” he said in a statement to FMT, adding that the clip could be uploaded on YouTube for maximum exposure.
This comes after Zahid, who is also the Umno acting deputy-president, denied Mahathir’s claim that he had lobbied for support to bring down Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Zahid had admitted to meeting Mahathir days after he was appointed as deputy prime minister in 2015 to replace Muhyiddin Yassin, but denied it was to seek support to topple Najib.
On Saturday, Zahid who said he had kept a recording of the meeting, claimed he was prepared to take an Islamic oath “in any mosque”.

PETALING JAYA: Seorang bekas pemimpin Umno mencabar Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi mendedahkan rakaman pertemuannya dengan Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad “dari mula hingga akhir”.
“Buat satu salinan kepada saya untuk dimuatnaik dalam YouTube. Saya sanggup bantu timbalan perdana menteri ini,” kata bekas naib ketua Umno Batu Kawan, Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan, yang bagaimanapun yakin dakwaan Zahid itu “bohong”.
Zahid semalam mengakui pernah bertemu Dr Mahathir beberapa hari selepas dilantik menggantikan Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin sebagai timbalan perdana menteri pada 2015.
Zahid bagaimanapun menafikan dakwaan Dr Mahathir pertemuan itu bagi melobi sokongannya untuk menumbangkan Datuk Seri Najib Razak, sebaliknya mendakwa pertemuan itu dirakamkannya, malah direstui Najib.
“Jangan berbohong. Rakaman itu masih ada pada saya. Mereka mudah lupa, tetapi saya tidak lupa. Orang itu berbohong katakan saya yang akan jatuhkan perdana menteri,” kata Zahid pada mesyuarat Umno Jerlun semalam.
Zahid turut berkata individu tertentu yang hadir dalam pertemuan tersebut untuk merancang menjatuhkan Najib.

I possess recording of talks with Dr M, says Zahid
In defending himself against accusations that he had once plotted to topple Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi claimed that he has the recording of the meeting between him and Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Under fire from the former prime minister, Zahid added that Mahathir also has a copy of the same recording of the meeting that was held in 2015.
Without mentioning any name, Zahid said it was in fact “the leader” who had planned for Najib’s downfall, by engineering a vote of no confidence in Parliament.
“During my meeting with the leader, it happened with the blessings of Datuk Seri Najib, 10 days after I was appointed as deputy prime minister.
“The leader said he had asked several opposition leaders (MPs) and several Umno leaders, who at the time had lost their positions, to initiate a vote of no confidence in Parliament against the prime minister,” Zahid said in his speech at the Jerlun Umno division meeting today.
“That is what is in the recording. The leader said it,” said Zahid, who claimed to still be in possession of the purported recording.
Mahathir, in a blog post on Tuesday, recalled a time when Zahid met with him, supposedly to seek his support and sympathy to replace Najib as prime minister.
He also claimed that Zahid had hoped to convince Najib to step down, soon after he was appointed as deputy prime minister.
‘That person had the intention, not me’
Zahid further claimed today that the leader had also outlined an alternative plan, should the vote of no confidence fail, to send a memorandum to the Malay rulers and petition the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to remove Najib as prime minister.
“This means that it is that person who had the intention to topple the prime minister, not me! That is what is in the recording, that was what had been discussed.
“But (now) two years later, the meeting was in 2015, that person said I was the one who plotted to topple the prime minister,” Zahid said.
“Do not lie. The recording is still in my possession.”

Dr M: Zahid once asked for my support to replace Najib as PM

Dr Mahathir Mohamad has recalled a time when Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had met him to seek his support and sympathy to replace Najib Abdul Razak as the prime minister.
Without revealing further details, Mahathir said Zahid himself should remember what had transpired during the meeting between them.
“Zahid should remember when he became the DPM, he came to see me to try and seek my sympathy, my support.
“I told Zahid the truth, even if Najib were to resign, which is impossible, Zahid must still wait for Umno to decide who should replace Najib,” he said in a video posted on Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s Facebook page.
“So when he needs my sympathy he will come. Now when he cannot get it, he will look for ways to lie like this,” said Mahathir in response to Zahid’s aspersion over his alleged Indian parentage.
Zahid had also accused Mahathir of exploiting the Malays during his 22-year administration.
“I am ashamed that a person like this can be in the cabinet,” said Mahathir.
