A14-YEAR-OLD, who wanted to be known only as Yana, had gotten up early yesterday morning to rush to the Immigration Department with her brothers to renew their passports.

However, little did she expect to come face to face with the fugitive “ball bearing rapist”, who had just hours escaped police custody.

Yana said she woke up about 6.40am and headed for a toilet outside her family home in Kampung Baru Hicom, Section 26, Selangor.

After taking a shower, the teen was walking back to her house when she saw a figure standing at one corner of a nearby surau.

She made eye contact with the man, who was wearing a mask, exposing only his eyes.

The man, who had his trousers down to his knees, charged at her with the intention of raping her.

Yana, who stood frozen, shouted for help and her screams alerted her two brothers, who ran out of the house to see what was going on.

“I pushed him away and I screamed out loud. My two brothers, who were up and ready to head for the Immigration Department, heard my screams and chased after the suspect. I also phoned another brother who lives nearby.

“Two of my brothers ran after the suspect and there was a scuffle, but they lost him for about 15 minutes,” she said, adding that the suspect hid behind bushes near the Sungai Klang riverbank, which is behind her house.

However, a neighbour, who was alerted to the presence of the suspect, spotted him trying to climb over a wall.

Yana said her brothers and the neighbour caught the man and pinned him to the ground to stop him from escaping.

“A minute later, the police arrived to arrest him,” Yana told the New Straits Times yesterday.

KLANG: A notorious robbery and rape suspect who escaped police custody yesterday has been rearrested, some 17 hours after he broke free from the Klang Utara district police headquarters.

Klang Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the 27-year-old Indonesian man was apprehended at Section 26, Kampung Baru Hicom Shah Alam at 7am today.

The distance between the police headquarters and where the suspect was found is about 20km.

Yusoff revealed that the suspect had planned his escape, and hired a man to send him to Kampung Baru Hicom Shah Alam, where he lives.

Upon receiving intelligence information, a team of investigators surrounded the village at 1am to apprehend the suspect.

Yusoff said the man, dubbed the ‘ballbearing rapist’, as he had three ballbearings implanted in his privates, was loitering around the village when he was arrested.

“The suspect had changed into a new set of clothes and cut off one side of the handcuffs he was wearing, which was hanging from his wrist when he was rearrested. He had broken the handcuffs with the help of the man he had hired for RM60 to send him to the village. We are in the midst of tracking him down.

“During his short-lived freedom, the suspect had also brazenly robbed a woman and attempted to rape her. We are now investigating this too. The suspect was due to be charged in court. We are expected to bring him to court soon,” said Yusoff.

KLANG: A notorious robber who raped a housewife in Kampung Rantau Panjang here two weeks ago has escaped police custody.

The 27-year-old Indonesian man, dubbed the ‘ballbearing rapist’ as he had three ballbearings implanted in his privates, gave police the slip when he escape through a toilet window at the Klang Utara district police headquarters around 3pm on Monday.

Klang Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Yusoff Mamat said initial investigation revealed that the suspect went to the toilet on the pretext of answering nature’s call before he managed to pry open the window bars.

“Police investigation revealed that he tied the pair of pants he was wearing on the steel bars and twisted it enough to make a room to slip out through the toilet window at Criminal Investigation Department office.

“A manhunt has been launched to track down the suspect,” he said when contacted by the New Straits Times.

It is learnt that a large scale search party has been mounted to locate the man, who was also allegedly responsible for molesting a woman during a burglary in Meru, here in May.

SHAH ALAM: A housewife was raped by one of three burglars who broke into her house in Kampung Rantau Panjang, Klang on Wednesday.

The 4am incident happened when the 34-year-old victim was sleeping alone in the bedroom. Her husband and their 4-year-old son were asleep in the living room.

Klang Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the suspect, armed with a knife, had woken up the victim and told her not to make any noise.

“The suspect then asked the victim to surrender her jewellery, to which she told him that she had pawned all of it. The woman then gave him her handbag and the robber only took RM50 and her Samsung Note 3 smartphone.

“Initial investigation revealed that the burglar, believed to be an Indonesian, had threatened the victim with his knife and ordered her to satisfy him sexually with her hand. He then decided to rape her instead,” he said.

Yusoff said the victim was afraid to scream for help after the suspect told her that he had two accomplices outside the room and that they would kill her family if she retaliated.

He said she then related the incident after the suspects left, around 4.30am.
