The Selangor state government has denied it is giving out free condoms to youths as claimed on social media.
Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali’s political secretary, Shuhaimi Shafiei, was quoted in Sinar Harian Online saying that a poster being circulated of the purported scheme was slander.
The poster, which is being widely shared on blogs and social media, bears a photograph of Azmin, accompanied by the text “The Selangor state government will be giving out free condoms under the ‘Peduli Sihat’ scheme, to prevent Selangor youths from being exposed to HIV or Aids”.
Shuhaimi attributed the “stunt” to certain irresponsible parties out to discredit the state government’s image, as well as Azmin’s.

The Selangor state government has denied it is giving out free condoms to youths as claimed on social media.

DPM: Cybertroopers should have countered ‘RM90m for PAS’ claim sooner

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi believes that Umno cybertroopers should have acted earlier to counter the claim made by whistleblower site Sarawak Report on the allegation that RM90 million was transferred to PAS by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
At Umno’s national social media convention today, Zahid lamented how fake news seems to be “well-accepted” today.
“But if we don’t counter this soon and only answer it three or four months later, look at what that has happened when (lawyer) Ambiga (Sreenevasan) accused PAS of receiving RM90 million from the prime minister and 1MDB.
“When Sarawak Report was taken to court in the United Kingdom, now Ambiga doesn’t want to talk and said that what she said was only two paragraphs (of the suit).”
The issue, said Zahid, should have been investigated when news about it cropped up instead of after it was taken to court.
“The consequences of what that has occurred have been very destructive,” he added.
Zahid then urged Umno’s IT bureau and “keyboard warriors” to take proactive action in answering any issues to counter negative perceptions.
“We have seen the effects, which saw us sink in the last two general elections,” he said.

PKR dismisses ‘sec-gen quits’ rumour

PKR has dismissed rumours that its secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution has stepped down from his position.
The party’s communications chief Fahmi Fazil said that this was untrue.
“We have not received any correspondence to indicate such,” Fahmi told Malaysiakini.
According to a message that has been circulating on messaging applications today, Saifuddin was said to have stepped down due to his “disappointment” with a recent statement by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

UTUSAN MALAYSIA had quoted Khalid Samad as urging PKR to leave Harapan
Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia had today quoted Khalid saying his party is willing to face the next general election without PKR due to the latter’s persistence in courting PAS to join Pakatan Harapan.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 ― Parti Amanah Negara’s Khalid Samad denied today that his party is ready to direct PKR to quit Pakatan Harapan due its insistence to negotiate with PAS.
The Amanah communications director said such a statement was fake and did not come from him.
“I’d like to remind that Amanah was formed to strengthen the relationship between opposition parties after Pakatan Rakyat fell apart. With the existence of Amanah, then Pakatan Harapan was formed to unite those who were separated,” he said in a statement.
“Therefore, Amanah’s commitment is to a concept of coalition politics that will always see Amanah working to strengthen the consensus in Pakatan Harapan and not tearing it apart.”
The Shah Alam MP said his Islamist party is committed to this goal.

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Zaid Ibrahim’s decision to join DAP has invited criticism from many quarters, said the former cabinet minister.
Zaid said many things had been said about him since he made the announcement to join DAP last Tuesday, the fourth party he has joined to date.
“The Barisan Nasional and their cyber troopers, especially, have said plenty of things that would make you cry. I am not about to respond to them again.
“Today, I wish to address my friends and supporters who have their concerns about my new involvement in party politics. They have genuine concerns which I must deal with,” he said in a blog post.
Zaid in his posting also refuted claims that he was power crazy by moving from one party to another, stressing that he was indeed a team player.
“Of course I am a team player; I would not have lasted 25 years in Umno otherwise, not with all the suspensions and difficult patches I went through with party leaders.
“To those who label me power crazy, I say that giving up a ministerial position, as I did, should tell them a few things about me,” he added.
He assured his supporters not to worry as he now has more experience in opposition politics.
