KUCHING, July 20 — The discovery of three bodies, believed to be that of a mother and her two sons at an unnumbered house in Kampung Baru, Kota Samarahan last night, has been classified as murder.

Sarawak CID chief SAC Dev Kumar M.M. Sree Shunmugam said the case was earlier classified as sudden death.

He said their bodies had been sent to the Sarawak Hospital for post-mortem.

“We will go through the post-mortem report to ensure whether there were elements of crime,” he said when contacted, today.

KUCHING: Police have reclassified the case of a woman and her two children, who were found dead in a house in Kampung Baru in Kota Samarahan, as murder.

Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Dev Kumar said the case was previously classified as sudden death following elements of suicide.

“The mother murdered the children and then committed suicide. “It is a murder-cum-suicide,” said Dev in a statement today.

KOTA SAMARAHAN: A woman is believed to have poisoned her two children before taking her own life in the family’s home in Kampung Baru here last night.

The body of the 37-year-old woman was found hanging inside the toilet while her two sons’ lifeless forms were found inside the bedroom about 8pm.

.

Neighbours had sensed something amiss as the house was too quiet. They alerted the police, which then deployed a team to check on the occupants.

.

Kota Samarahan district police chief Deputy Superintendent Lee Chong Chern said one of the two children, aged four, was still breathing when policemen arrived. The boy however died upon arriving at the Sarawak General Hospital’s (SGH) Heart Centre.

The boy’s elder brother, aged seven, however, was already dead when the team arrived at the house.
