‘Videotape apology by comedian and make it viral’
Artistes Association of Malaysia says local artistes do not criticise leaders of other countries and others should respect Malaysian leaders, too.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Artistes Association of Malaysia wants foreign stand-up comedians who criticises the prime minister and other top leaders to be barred from entering the country.
Its Law and Complaint Bureau Chairman Hafiz Nafiah said Malaysian artistes do not criticise leaders of other countries.
“People should also not criticise our top leaders. There should be mutual respect.
“We honour freedom of speech but it should not be at the expense of criticising our top leaders, and that too our prime minister.”
Hafiz was speaking to reporters after lodging a police report at Dang Wangi station here today.
The report was against Singaporean stand-up comedian Fakkah Fuzz, who had made a comparison between a thief in Singapore and one in Malaysia.
He said initially the association had no intention of getting involved in the matter but “a lot of our association members have urged us to take action.”
He said on behalf of 4,000 members, they want the Immigration Department to blacklist Fakkah from entering Malaysia.
He said the members felt that a stand-up comedian should not make a name for himself or herself “by criticising the prime minister.”
“Stand-up comedians should be creative to crack jokes according to the situation and people.
“If you look at Fakkah’s video clip, no one was really laughing until he mentioned the Malaysian prime minister.”

S’pore comedian FakkahFuzz apologises after Malaysian politician demands he be banned http://bit.ly/29cGHMS
Singaporean comic Fakkah Fuzz has apologised after causing an uproar in Malaysia over a joke he made as part of act and uploaded on his Facebook page.
In the video that quickly went viral, Fakkah said Singapore Malays call a thief “pencuri” while Malaysian Malays call a thief “perdana menteri” (prime minister).
He has since deleted the video from his social media.
In his apology posted on Facebook, he wrote:
“I would like to sincerely apologize if I unintentionally hurt my brothers and sisters across the causeway. It was not my intention to hurt or cause unhappiness among anyone. Nor was I accusing anyone of anything.
“It was simply a joke based on current events. The joke is basically ‘we say this, you say this’.
“I’m just saying what I hear. Not saying ‘This person is guilty of this!’ Not at all. Please don’t take what I said out of context as I’m not out to slander anyone.”
He added that people should not be too defensive or sensitive:
“Everyone needs to open their minds, be a little less sensitive and learn to take a joke once in a while. I promise ur life will be much better if you do.”
“Dont like it, just click away. No one is forcing you to watch anything. This is the internet.”

“Fakkah Fuzz had rudely made a comparison on the definition of a thief in Singapore and Malaysia. He had likened the definition of a thief in Malaysia to the Prime Minister which is very disheartening.
