FEEDBACK FROM RESIDENT ASSOCIATIONS:
Bandar Puteri RA chairman Datuk Samson Maman said each local council should play a prominent role to ensure that the initiative would be implemented smoothly. “We will have problems if there is no coordination. Should the local council provide the recycling bins, or should the residents pay for them? This question must be addressed.”
Bukit Bandaraya RA chairman Datuk M. Ali said the relevant authorities must not just stop at making grand announcements.
“In principle, it is a good move for the environment in the long term, but the authorities should engage the public and get their feedback.
Subang Jaya RA chairman A.S. Gill said even though waste separation had been in practice in developed countries for a long time, its implementation here must be carefully thought through and planned in order to avoid problems.
“Perhaps, recycling bins can be provided by local councils here while the regular waste bin is provided by the respective households.”

Blogger: And what if the sucontractors employ garbage collectors who steal the bins? In Ipoh, few people use the black bins required by the City Council simply because they keep getting stolen. I have had 5 stolen in the last 5 years.
