I will be more careful when selecting jobs, says model
Controversial pair: How (left) and Low said they had learned their lesson from the debacle.
IPOH: Female model How Jo Yee, who was fined RM400 for appearing scantily clad in a wedding-themed public photo shoot, has learnt her lesson from the debacle.
She said she would be more selective with jobs requiring her to dress up in revealing attire outdoors.
She told Sin Chew Daily that she would also seek legal advice before taking on such modelling stints if necessary.
How, 21, and male model Low Kah Wai, 27, were fined RM400 each in default of a month’s jail by a magistrate’s court on Wednesday after they pleaded guilty to causing a public nuisance at a traffic light in front of a bank in Jalan Sultan Yussuf here on Monday.
Photographs of Low, clad only in black pants, shoes and a bow tie, and How, who only had on white undergarments, a wedding veil and heels, went viral on social media after the photo shoot.
How said she only realised that the photos had gone viral after her friends told her about it.
“I quickly called my family to explain to them,” said How, who has been working for three years as a model.
Low, a hairstylist and part-time model, said he did not blame the friend who had pitched the job to him.
He was worried, however, about the effect of the incident on his business.
“I hope my customers will be understanding,” he added.

THEY ARE IN MAINSTREAM PAPERS AND IN ONLINE PAPERS, ALL OVER THE WORLD!
THEY ARE THINKING OF TAKING SOMEONE TO COURT, FOR UPLOADING PHOTOS OF THEM ON THE NET.
IT WOULD BE A WASTE OF TIME: THEY WALKED HALF-NUDE IN BROAD DAYLIGHT ON A PUBLIC ROAD, AND THEY WANT TO PRESERVE THEIR PRIVACY?
LMAO!

Kah Wai (left) and Jo Yee walking out of court after paying RM400 fine.
IPOH: The two models involved in the semi-nude photo shoot here have been fined RM400 each in default of a months’ jail.
Magistrate Haslinda A Raof made the judgment on Wednesday after both freelance models Low Kah Wai, 27, and How Jo Yee, 21, pleaded guilty of causing nuisance in public at a traffic light in front of a bank along Jalan Sultan Yussuf here on Aug 25.
Both were charged under Under Section 268 of the Penal Code and sentenced under Section 290 of the same code, which was also read together with Section 34 of the same code.
Deputy public prosecutor Harris Ong Mohd Jeffery Ong said Low was only wearing black pants and shoes without wearing any shirt, while How was wearing white undergarments.
“Their actions caught the attention of the public and some photographs of them were captured and circulated through social media,” he said, while pushing for the maximum penalty of RM400 to be meted out.

Both paid the fine.
When met after the proceedings, Soong said his clients and their respective families were stressed out since the photographs went viral online.

Scantily-clad couple makes it to social media
Checks on the identity of the couple revealed that the photographs were part of a “wedding shoot” organised by an Ipoh wedding studio.
Calls to the studio went unanswered but a source said: “The photographers who did the shoot were exploring their creativity and chose the location for its colonial and pre-war buildings setting.”

Lawyers: Posing in skimpy clothes not an offence
PETALING JAYA: Taking photographs in a public area does not constitute a criminal offence as long as they are clothed, said a prominent lawyer.
“I honestly don’t see anything wrong with it legally as they are clothed. It might not be acceptable to some, but I don’t see how it can be a criminal offence, said lawyer Syahredzan Johan.
…
“There should be something more than posing in skimpy clothes to constitute a public nuisance under Section 268 of the Penal Code,” said Syahredzan.
Lawyer New Sin Yew also believes the act does not constitute a public nuisance as defined by the Penal Code.
“An essential element of the public nuisance crime is that it must affect the community or a section of it, rather than individuals.
“Further, it seems that the intention of the photoshoot was not to cause a nuisance to the public, but for their own private use.
“More importantly, the choice of clothes the couple chose to wear or chose not to wear is entirely their right. They are exercising their constitutional right to freedom of expression,” said New.

Pictures of semi-nude ‘bride and groom’ making waves on social media
IPOH: Photos of a semi-naked couple, allegedly taking their wedding photographs in front of a bank on Jalan Sultan Yussuf here, have surfaced on social media.
The photographs of the couple in minimal dress, with the “groom” shirtless wearing just a bow tie and black pants, with the “bride” clad in just white undergarments, with a wedding veil.
It is not known when the photo shoot occurred, but photographs have been circulating online since Monday.
The couple seemed undaunted by their state of dress, even as passers-by took their photographs.
However, a wedding gallery general manager, who only wished to be known as Koo, said the duo were models and it was merely a photo shoot and not for a wedding.
