Plane crashes in Taiwan, killing 51 people

TAIPEI: At least 51 passengers were feared to killed after a Taiwanese TransAsia Airways plane was forced to land at a village in Penghu county at 5.35pm, Taiwan’s Central news agency reported today.
The flight, GE222, took off from Kaohsiung Siaogang Airport around 5pm. It was scheduled to land in Penghu’s Magong Airport at 5.30pm.
Taiwanese transportation authorities said the plane caught fire after it landed “at the end of a runway”.
The report says the plane likely crashed when an attempt to make an emergency landing in the city of Magong.

TransAsia Airways plane crashes in typhoon-hit Taiwan, killing 47
TAIPEI (Reuters) – A domestic TransAsia Airways plane crashed on landing on an island off the west coast of typhoon-hit Taiwan on Wednesday, killing 47 people, the Civil Aeronautics Administration said.
The plane, a 70-seat turboprop ATR 72, crashed near the runway with 54 passengers and four crew on board, it said.
“It’s chaotic on the scene,” director Jean Shen told Reuters.
Eleven injured people had been taken to hospital, the government said.
The accident happened on one of the Penghu islands, also known as the Pescadores. No more details were immediately available.

飞机失事前撞上附近一间民宅，民宅被削去大半，如断垣残壁，而根据当地民众转述，有机上乘客挂在民宅墙上，而破碎的尸块四散，惨不忍睹。
