Cops probe Korean tourist over ‘Quran’ kaftan
Netizens slammed the woman for insulting Islam while some mistook the woman for ethnic Chinese and hurled racial slurs.
…
Police clarification on Facebook that the woman was a tourist did not placate some as a debate rage on over the matter.
“If someone is accused of trafficking drugs and is in possession of the drugs, they will be punished even though they were not aware.
“In this case, if Korean person wore clothing with sacred Quranic verses, it is still wrong in this country. Wrong is wrong.
“Is there no Islam in Korea? The whole world knows about Islam. This is a matter of religion, Islam is Malaysia’s official religion,” said one user Dyla Dz.
However, others urged reason, with one user Putera Alkiram stating: “The auntie is Korean. She does not know what is written on the clothes. She probably bought it for remembrance while on tour.
“Call up the auntie and explain to her that it is wrong, then perhaps she will understand. Don’t just curse her, it is not right”.

Police probe Korean woman who wore dress with printed Quranic verses
Ampang Jaya Police chief ACP Khairuldin Saad, who confirmed the case, said a police report was lodged soon after the woman’s photograph appeared on Facebook.
“We lodged the report ourselves because no civilian came forward to do so and an investigation is in progress,” he told Bernama.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 298A (1) of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum jail term of five years upon conviction.
The picture, which went viral on social media yesterday, also showed a man, believed to be an Arab, seemingly scolding the woman. –BERNAMA
