Persatuan Jurufoto Media Malaysia (MPPA) menyeru polis mengambil tindakan segera berhubung insiden kekasaran terhadap jurugambar ketika membuat liputan ketibaan abu jasad mangsa nahas MH17 di Sungai Besi hari ini.
Presiden MPPA, Zainal Abdul Halim berkata kekasaran ke atas jurugambar The New Straits Times Aizuddin Saad amat tidak berperikemanusiaan.
Katanya, Aizuddin ditumbuk di muka manakala jurufoto Utusan Malaysia Rushdi Salleh sempat mengelak.

3.This is a grieving family who had their family shot down and murdered in cold blood, and have to endure the pain for the last one month, and getting back their remains in such state of disrespect for their PRIVATE FUNERAL AFFAIR.
Media coverage should only be up to the ministers/politician press coverage, and up to receiving their remains in KLIA. They never do, nor have the rights or privilege to be at the private event held in a private center that was held for a private crowd.
Let me repeat this- Not the ministers, not the dignitaries, not VVIPs or anyone was allowed or invited other than close family members. A private affair is a private affair, no matter what you say-especially sensitive ones like a funeral ..of not 1, or 2, but 3 family members at the same time!
4. Next time before you run your mouth, kindly take pictures of your next of kin funeral/dead body and post the them online for the world to see before suggesting and shouting racial slurs. You wouldnt want it for yours, why would we want it for ours?
In closing, no media/no pics/no videos are allowed in the proceeding funeral affairs. We spoke in kinder and gracious terms before this but pushed to the brink.
After all, you might be harping on posting on this for next couple of days – but it is the family who would have to bear this burden for many more years to come (would you like Google to immortalize your family or relative death pics permanently??). It is their full right to protect their deceased family members imagery and rights. No questions on this.
This is not a political event, dont make it into one. This is not a racial event, dont make it into one. This is a private funeral. Give the space and let the family grieve in private.

Sejak awal lagi, keluarga ini tidak pernah meminta coretan media. Sebarang penulisan tidak pernah keluar dari keluarga (hanya rakan taulan dan kawan sekerja) . Mereka juga telah berulang kali meminta privasi mereka dipentingkan-dan ini telah disalurkan secara official dan ‘black and white’ kepada pihak kerajaan, MAS, dan Nirvana. Malah, semalam juga, kerajaan dan MAS tersilap langkah apabila mengedarkan maklumat peribadi alamat mereka walaupun berulang kali diminta untuk tidak berbuat demikian. Kesabaran mereka juga ada batasnya..
Jadi salah kan pengamal media yang tidak tahu adap, yang tidak menghormati permintaaan keluarga untuk meratapi ahli keluarga mereka yang tersayang. Ini masa mereka yang terakhir.
Ini bukan isu perkauman untuk disensasikan, ataupun isu politik… ini isu pengebumian 3 orang yang mempunyai keluarga ter sayang- yang telah ditolak ke batas maksima oleh media yang lebih mahu berita sensasi dari menghormati keseriusan majlis pengebumian ini.

MH17: We specifically asked for privacy during funeral, says next-of-kin
PETALING JAYA: A next-of-kin of three Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH17 crash victims whose funeral was disrupted by an alleged assault of a press photographer, has claimed on social media that his family repeatedly told the media to leave them alone.
The man, who goes by the name Logan Retnam on Facebook, posted that despite repeatedly saying “no media”, the photographer ignored their wishes and continued to take pictures of the victim’s family and friends.
“I do not understand why the media thinks that we have to share our private moments with them. Do we owe you (the media) that?” he questioned.
“If this happens to your loved ones, probably you can feel the same pain and anger as we are going through now,” he added.
In his post, Logan rapped MAS and the funeral parlour where the incident occurred for not respecting the families’ wishes not to disclose funeral details.
“MAS published personal details about burial plans when we had told them to protect our privacy.
“Then, the funeral parlour let the media in to cover the event, even though the family had requested for complete privacy,” he said.

Journalists condemn attack on photographer
Three major journalist groups have condemned the attack on a press photographer during the arrival ceremony of the deceased from the MH17 crash today.

English daily The New Straits Times photographer Aizuddin Saad was punched in the face by a family member of a crash victim, causing him injury.

In the police report lodged by Aizuddin, the photographer said he was standing beside a fellow media practitioner when the hearses carrying the remains of MH17 victims arrived at the Nirvana Memorial Centre.

“One of the family members attacked a media practitioner who was beside me.
“When I was taking pictures, another family member kicked my camera, damaging it,” he said in the police report sighted by Malaysiakini.
He then took the broken components of his camera to another area.
When other media personnel took pictures of him with the broken camera, another family member suddenly punched him in the face, causing a two-centimetre tear across his nose.

Malaysia can use security act to try MH17 culprit, says Wan Junaidi – Bernama

Malaysia can use the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act, or Sosma, to try the mastermind behind the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 disaster, said Deputy Home Minister Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
He said that though Sosma had the provisions, various issues must be resolved first before the law could be used.
“Based on the Sosma provisions, we (Malaysia) have the right to take action against any criminal offence against Malaysia, including those committed overseas,” he told Bernama at his Aidilfitri open house.
Wan Junaidi was asked to comment on Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail’s statement that Malaysia could investigate the MH17 incident based on various provisions under Sosma.

“We (Malaysia) need to know who did it; have solid evidence against the parties involved; and, we must have the permission of the parties in power, whether Ukraine, Russia or the separatists, to bring the alleged offenders for trial here,” he said.
Asked on the possibility that the trial under Sosma could not be carried out even when the culprit was brought back to Malaysia, he said this would not happen.
“Before we had Sosma, that may have been possible, or what we call ‘proceedings out of jurisdiction’ because the crime against Malaysia happened overseas.
“Sosma is different and, if all the conditions are met, the punishment can be meted out based on the laws of the country,” he said. – Bernama, July 29, 2014.

M’sian journo lashed for disturbing human remains
MH17 A Malaysian journalist has been slammed after being filmed disturbing suspected human remains with a stick at the MH17 crash site.
“A Malaysia Gazette visit has found that there are still fragments believed to be skin at the MH17 crash site,” said the news portal’s chief reporter Khairuddin Mohd Amin in the video.
As Khairuddin finishes his sentence, the camera pans towards the ground, zooming in on him flicking a long, burnt object on the ground with a stick.
The video was uploaded on Malaysia Gazette’s official YouTube channel on July 23 and was accompanied by a blurb mentioning that the skin was of human origin. The video lasted for two minutes and 29 seconds.

Gerakan youth leader says police must act against the Tanjung MP’s wife for the derogatory post made on her Facebook account.
GEORGE TOWN: Gerakan’s Batu Kawan division youth wing wants the police to investigate Tanjung MP Ng Wei Aik’s wife for her alleged seditious social media posting discrediting the country over the MH17 tragedy.
In his police report lodged yesterday, J Puspanathan accused Ng’s wife, Tan Poh See of condemning Malaysia as “scary and useless” in her Facebook posting in the aftermath of the aviation tragedy on July 17.
Puspanathan slammed Tan for tarnishing the country’s international reputation with her alleged distasteful comment in the posting.
“As the wife of a DAP parliamentarian, who won his Tanjung seat by a landslide (victory), Tan should know what to say and what not to say,” he said.
“The whole world is mourning the deaths of innocent people in an act of terrorism. While she as a Malaysian MP’s wife berates and insults her own country.
“Police should investigate and take stern action against Tan even though she has apologised,” Puspanathan, who also heads Gerakan national youth welfare and social bureau, told FMT here today.

Penang Umno chief Zainal Abidin Osman has called on DAP to prove that it is patriotic and loves this nation.
In order to do so, he said the party must take action against Yuki Tan, the wife of DAP MP for Tanjung Ng Wei Aik.

‘Balik tongsan’ not insult, claims Umno man
Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii today denied that his “balik tongsan” jibe directed at the wife of a DAP parliamentarian was meant as an insult.
Mohd Razlan told Malaysiakini that he did not know if the word “Tongsan” means anything significant.
“Does the term even exist?” he asked.
“Firstly, I feel the term is just a normal word. Like Chinese are fighting and one person asks the other to go back to the village (balik kampung),” he said.
“’Balik tongsan’ means leave the country. She needs to respect the country and the law of the country where she stays,” he said when contacted.

MH17 Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming called for disciplinary action be taken against Federal Territory Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii for asking a DAP MP’s wife to “balik Tongsan (go back to China)”.
Ong made the call today in reference to the remarks made by Razlan in several tweets directed at Tan Poh See, the wife of Tanjung MP Ng Wei Aik.

Hundreds swarm embassies seeking justice
MH17 Close to 500 people flooded the roads near the embassies of Russia, Ukraine and also the United Nations office in Kuala Lumpur today in a BN-organised demonstration to seek justice for the victims of the MH17 tragedy.
Clad in black t shirts which read “Justice 4 MH17”, the protestors also included members of several NGOs including right-wing NGO Perkasa.
They chanted “we want justice” while carrying placards which read “MH17 became a victim of Balkan war” among others.
The three separate delegations to deliver memoranda to the two embassies and the UN today was led by Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun.

This statement is to clarify the misunderstanding caused by a tweet from Flightradar24 on Malaysia Airlines’ flight MH004 from Kuala Lumpur to London that flew over Syrian airspace on 20 July 2014 at 1:20pm local time.
MH004’s flight plan is in accordance to International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) approved routes. As per the notice to airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority, the Syrian airspace was not subject to restrictions.
At all times, MH004 was in airspace approved by ICAO.
Malaysia Airlines maintains that safety of its passengers and crew is of utmost priority.

4D outlets reject bets on ‘hot numbers’
Four-digit punters planning to cash in on the numbers 1717 and 777 associated with the MH17 tragedy were disappointed when their bets were not accepted.
Checks with local Da Ma Cai, Toto and Magnum outlets showed that the “hot” numbers had been rejected since Friday.
A worker at a Magnum outlet here said at first she did not know why the numbers were barred.
It was only later that she realised July 17 was the date the plane was shot down in Ukraine, that the flight number was MH17 and that it was a Boeing 777.“We are not the only ones rejecting the numbers. Other outlets are also turning punters away,” she explained.
Even the illegal four-digit syndicates were not accepting bets on these numbers

This was a post made yesterday. However, this is a half truth and misleading. the fact of the matter is, SIA was using the same MH flight path until the incident happened and then they stopped.

In contrast, MAS planes only flew over rebel-held Donetsk 48 times within the same period, Spiegel Online reported, citing flight tracking website flightradar24.com.
It said Russian airline Aeroflot flew over the area 86 times in the past seven days, Ukraine International Airlines 62 times, and Germany’s largest airline, Lufthansa, 56 times.

IATA: MAS Flight MH17 flying over non-restricted aerospace

SINGAPORE: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) says the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 which was reported to have crashed in Ukraine was believed to be flying over non-restricted airspace.
In a statement from Geneva, the trade association of airlines said: “Based on the information currently available, it is believed that the airspace that the aircraft was traversing was not subject to restrictions.

10.54am: Hollywood actor Jason Biggs is facing heat after cracking unfunny joke on Twitter just hours after the MH17 tragedy, earning him a trashing from netizens.
According to Huffington Post, the American Pie actor tweeted: “Anyone want to buy my Malaysian Airlines frequent flier miles?”
However, he did follow this up with another tweet: “It’s saddest for the victims and their families, obviously. But Malaysia Airlines is apparently a GREAT airline. Gonna be tough to recover.”
But this did little to put out the fire. Biggs, however, turns on his accusers, saying his joke did not mean he did not empathise with those affected by the crisis.
“Truly- you losers are literally trying to find shit to get angry about. Channel your issues elsewhere,” Biggs writes.
