He made a joke, like many of us do at times, only to discover that others are making a BIG THING about it, that they are brewing a storm in a tea-cup! Before we know it, it will become a tornado!

Chris Ho apologises for post about killing S’poreans: “I was shocked that something so far-fetched was taken so seriously”

Posted on 05 April 2014

Mediacorp Lush 99.5FM DJ Chris Ho claims his post on Facebook calling for Singaporeans to be killed was ‘blown out of proportion’.

Following the article on Stomp, Mr Ho had implied on his facebook page that “not all STOMP followers are stupid’, and that there were some ‘thinking folks’ who had agreed with his point of view.

A more recent post by Mr Ho yesterday however states: “I realize that my post about How far one would go to defend the country has now been blown out of proportion.”

According to his post, he had been “shocked that something so far-fetched was taken so seriously and not seen for what it is – a satirical call for Singaporeans to think for themselves and know what’s what.”

HE SHARED HIS THOUGHTS OFF THE CUFF, SO TO SPEAK.

How far…? Let’s see… I’m with you foreigners! Kill the fckn-Singaporeans but not my friends, can?

Saw this billboard poster outside a bus stop - yes how far will Singaporeans defend their country now especially when 2 million foreigners are living among us? Many servicemen also feel the pressure of serving national service and reservist duties whereas foreigners can simply focus on their work. Has national service becomes a liability now and more of a chore rather than a patriotic duty a Singaporean can feel proud of?

Stomper Tee Seng came across it and erupted (more or less).

Tee Seng wrote in an email to Stomp:

“MediaCorp DJ Chris Ho wants to join foreigners and kill Singaporeans

“I was shocked when I came across this facebook post by Lush 99.5FM DJ Chris Ho.

“Commenting on a photo of an SAF poster, he wrote, ‘I’m with you foreigners. Kill the **** Singaporeans but not my friends, can?’

“What kind of joke is this? If he hates Singaporeans so much, why is he still here?

“I used to be a fan of his but now he has gone too far, asking foreigners to kill Singaporeans.”

The Real Singapore

LOCAL DJ CHRIS HO’S SATIRICAL FACEBOOK POST TAKEN TOO SERIOUSLY BY STOMP

Local DJ Chris Ho from 99.5FM had posted a satirical comment on his facebook page criticising an SAF advertisement, however his humour was lost on Stomp which later posted an article criticising his post.

Mr Ho had shared a photo of an SAF advert which was asking Singaporeans “How far would you go to protect our home?”

Accompanying the SAF ad, Mr Ho had posted the satirical caption “How far…? Let’s see… I’m with you foreigners! Kill the fckn-Singaporeans but not my friends, can?”

However, his satirical caption was not understood properly and later, his post was published on STOMP with the writer questioning how Mr Ho could say such thing:

The Stomp article about Mr Ho’s post had criticised him of hating Singapore and taking it too far.

Mr Ho’s post was taken literally with Stomp reporting that “MediaCorp’s Lush 99.5FM DJ Chris Ho declared that he wanted to kill Singaporeans.”

Later, Chris Ho shared the Stomp article commenting that Stomp has misunderstood his original satirical post.

He posted to facebook:

“Crucifixion attempt no.24…. But what d’ya know! Not all STOMP followers are stupid going by comments left there. There are thinking folks out there even in that world, seriously.. thank God.

Many thanks to a FB-pal, SP, and all the other pals for informing me of it.

Aw, ST… I’m bothering you that much, hah? I only seek to lend ‘balance’ to your devout daily justifications for Singapore’s credence. All-good-no-bad doesn’t work as well in today’s Internet Revolution, though you must do everything for bread-&-butter master; yes, I know.”

Some friends of Chris also pointed out that Stomp had clearly not understood the satirical nature of Chris’ original post

Satire is too profound for Stomp.. Nt many Sheeples knw ya E way we knw ya X Chris Ho. (Grabs Popcorns n Reads Stomp Comments)
