16 year-old Low Yu Feng has not gone home after school since 7th February 2014. In a letter to her mother, the girl stated that she was going off to ‘realize her dreams’ and that she will only contact the family after she has settled down. She even asked for the family not to lodge a police report and promised them that she will take care of herself. Her anxious mother has however fallen ill since her daughter has gone missing.

In the letter, Yu Feng also pointed out that the Malaysian Certificate of Education Examination (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) ) was a nightmare for her.

According to a friend of Yu Feng who sent her to the bus station, there was a man, with dyed blonde hair, waiting for her at the station. The man had introduced himself as “Zhi Long”.

Yu Feng’s family believes that Yu Feng had come in contact with the blonde 21 -year-old man through a social networking website and he is believed to come from Johor. This man often called and chatted with her, sometimes late into the night. “Mom knew about the man and gave Yu Feng some advice but did not stop her from chatting with her friend.”

“We managed to find some information through social networking sites. We then tried to contact the man, but he did not pick up the calls.

According to her friends, Yu Feng had felt that she had no freedom. However, her elder sister said that their mother would allow her to go out shopping or have tea with friends and does not limit her freedom too much. Yet she is also said to be someone who is emotional and is often found hiding in her bedroom, reading novels. “My sister is very fond of reading, especially novels and comic books, and often spend time reading upstairs. We have advised her to spend more time with the family, but her attitude remained unchanged.”

Yu Feng’s father, Mr. Qiu Pei Dong says that the family only wants Yu Feng to return as soon as possible and to let bygones be bygones. He is appealing to the public to inform him as soon as possible if they know the whereabouts of his daughter. He also called on the man that may have been with Yu Feng to send her. Taking underage girls may constitute a criminal offense.
