Cops believe man cursing Sabahans in viral video is mentally ill
KOTA KINABALU: The man claiming to be a ‘peninsula Malaysia Immigration officer’ cursing Sabahans in a viral video uploaded on Youtube and Facebook is not really an immigration officer, said Kota Kinabalu city police chief Assist Comm Jauteh Dikun on Friday.
In fact, police believe that the man was suffering from mental illness when he created a commotion at the busy Centre Point Shopping Mall on Thursday, he said.
But no one lodged a police report and, so, the police did not detain him, he said.
In the video https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=645496348841764, the man was heard using four-letter words to curse Sabahans while purportedly carrying out ‘his duty’.
It also showed the ‘immigration officer’ being surrounded by the mall’s security guards and patrons who try to calm him down but when he continued cursing some of the security guards started responding in a tough manner.
The ‘immigration officer’ later takes cover inside one of the shops selling DVDs after seeing those around him getting agitated.
