Kamalanathan forgives Umno man who assaulted him – Bernama

Deputy Education Minister and Hulu Selangor Member of Parliament, P. Kamalanathan has forgiven the man who assaulted him at his service centre in Hulu Selangor on January 12.
Kamalanathan said this incident was a personal matter between Hulu Selangor Umno Youth assistant secretary Muhammad Rizuan Suhaimi and him, and what transpired was an unintentional act of emotion.
“To err is human and I have no reason to continue being upset with this incident,” he said in a statement today.

Kamalanathan also said that he would not interfere with police investigations and advised the public and the media not to exaggerate this incident further but allow space for the authorities to complete their investigation. – Bernama, January 26, 2014.

MIC chief wants Najib to act against Umno man for thuggish behaviour

MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel (pic) will insist that the prime minister act against an Umno member for punching an MIC leader who also happens to be a deputy minister.

“No MP, parliamentary-secretary or deputy minister has been punched before. I don’t know what happened but I will get to the bottom of it,” Palanivel said after attending a Ponggal harvest festival in Brickfields this evening.

Meanwhile, MIC Youth has given the Umno division four days to apologise for the incident.

Wanita MIC head M. Mohana echoed the call for stern action to be taken over the matter, saying: “It is not right that a public scuffle like this should have occurred.” – January 14, 2014.

The Star Online reported that Kamalanathan was actually assaulted by the teacher’s father, who is a high-ranking member of the Hulu Selangor Umno branch.

MIC demands action against Umno man for punching deputy minister
MIC today demanded that action be taken against an Umno member who punched Deputy Education Minister II P. Kamalanathan at a meeting in Hulu Selangor yesterday.
In a statement today, Selangor MIC Youth chief, Shanker Raj Ayanger, expressed “utmost regret and dissapointment” over the way the Hulu Selangor Umno Youth member behaved, and urged police to step in and take action.
“He must also be ordered to make a public apology to Kamalanathan,” said Shanker.

Kamalanathan allegedly punched by upset teacher
Deputy Education Minister II P Kamalanathan was reportedly punched in the neck by a teacher who had been upset that the politician could not assist in transferring the teacher from a post in Johor to Selangor.
According to the BN Backbenchers Council’s official website, the incident happened yesterday afternoon at his office in Hulu Selangor.
Kamalanathan, in his police report over the incident, said that the teacher met him with a group of other youths after a previous meeting involving the teacher’s father-in-law earlier that day.
The teacher and his father-in-law had met the deputy minister, who is also Hulu Selangor MP, to ask for help to be transferred to a school in the constituency.
However, Kamalanathan had told the man he can only issue a support letter but cannot guarantee a transfer as the man teaches English and English teachers usually do not get transferred easily.
