Mohd Saiful Bukhari: To contest in Port Dickson…

Saiful gets a taste of what might await him when he goes on the campaign trail…

Have you no shame? – Saiful Bukhari booed at PD nomination centre

PORT DICKSON: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan (pic), who is contesting as an independent candidate in the Port Dickson polls, has experienced a rough start to his campaign with jeers directed at him on nomination day (Sept 29).

When Returning Officer Khairy Maamor announced his candidacy at the nomination centre in the Port Dickson Municipal Council hall, he was loudly booed.

Some even shouted: “Tak tahu malu kah” (Have you have no shame?).

The jeering appear to contradict Pakatan Harapan’s pledge to not resort to personal attacks in the election campaigns. PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution had on Friday (Sept 28) said: “If they throw s*** at us, we will give them flowers”.

Anwar, who spoke at a press conference shortly afterwards, said he would advise his supporters not to resort to personal attacks, but he also said Saiful’s “malicious” accusations in the past should be taken into account.

“I will advise them, of course. But then, one can appreciate the malicious efforts on his part in the past.

“It is easier to say forgive and move on, but (you) also have to appreciate the concerns of many who were deeply hurt and who suffered in the process.”

Anwar said he was unfazed by the prospects of Saiful using the sodomy allegations as a campaign tactic against him.

“That is his issue, and I don’t want to interfere. I want to focus on my work, and I think the leadership is taking the same decision as well.”

SAIFUL & FARAH AZLINA ALLEGEDLY HAD SEX – OFFENCE UNDER SYARIAH LAW SINCE UNMARRIED

The Malaysian Religious authorities are at the crossroad on whether to ARREST and CHARGE Saiful Bukhari Azlan and DPP Farah Azlina Latif on an alleged sexual affair, which was first exposed by ‘fugitive’ blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin in Malaysia Today recently.
.
With the revelation, DPP Farah Azlina had be removed from the prosecution team in the on-going sodomy trial of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
.
Defense lawyers are demanding that since the two had an alleged intimate relationship, confidential informations have been revealed making the case to be treated as a mistrial. .
According to Syariah Law, both Saiful and Farah Azlina are unmarried couples, and its an offence to have an illicit sexual affair and action need to be taken for zina and khalwat immediately.
.
Surprise to many, the Malaysian Religious authorities are trying to evade any action or awaiting further instructions from their political masters to arrest and charge these ‘criminals’. Look at the double-standard practiced.
.
Recently, the Religious authorities had carried out raids to curb the khalwat and zina activities and although after much criticisms had even infringed many married couples who had failed to carry their Kad Nikah or Marriage Certificates to show prove that they are married couples. A few had even committed suicide to escape arrest.
.

When the alleged facts are right in front of them, they fail to perform their duties.

PETALING JAYA: Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan will contest in the Port Dickson by-election as an independent candidate.

The former aide to PKR president-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim told The Star that he will contest on an independent ticket.

“I am contesting purely as an independent without any party backing me.

“Let me set the record straight, I am not contesting because of my past with Datuk Seri Anwar but for other reasons,” he said.

Mohd Saiful said he would reveal more once his nomination as a candidate is confirmed on Saturday (Sept 29).

“I have thought about it thoroughly and I feel it is the right move,” he said.

How Saiful, Shafee, Seah and Supt Pereira sodomised a nation.

The supposed victim

Saiful claims to have been sodomised and was in so much pain, that he did not wash his bottom for days. If he was truly sodomised, why did he not run to the police instead of running to the then deputy PM, Najib Abdul Razak.

Najib claimed that Saiful went to see him about getting a scholarship. Saifuil’s a drop out. Why talk about a scholarship?

The whole Sodomy II trial, including the main players, Saiful, Shafee, Seah and Supt Pereira, are as dirty as Saiful’s bottom.

Of course, all paths lead to one man. He wants to get Anwar out of the way.

Saiful, Najib and Shafee

Two days before the alleged victim of Anwar, Mohd Saiful, pressed charges, the student was identified as having visited the home of Najib himself to discuss the entire matter.

Najib at first denied this fact. However, when photographs were produced he admitted meeting the student, but only to discuss his ‘career plans’.  Only after the alleged victim then broke under questioning and confessed he had discussed his allegations against Anwar with Najib did the Prime Minister admit that the discussion had taken place.

Shafee Abdullah has been proven to have been at Najib’s house at the same time.  However, the lawyer claims he was not part of the meeting between the Prime Minister and the student – a meeting where legal advice might be considered an obvious priority. Shafee said he was doing something else, somewhere else in the house. Anwar’s legal team contended that to the contrary he was advising the prime minister on handling the student, who went ahead to denounce Anwar two days later (after a further secret meeting with the Deputy Head of Police).

So, why was Najib paying Shafee such a huge sum of money in February 2014, at a time that this lawyer was supposedly contracted into a public role as a special prosecutor in by far the most high profile legal case of the period – a case in which Najib had a very strong interest in the outcome and in which Shafee himself was a material witness?

The Australian barrister Mark Trowell, who acted as an observer at the trial and then wrote a book about the case, has described the entire prosecution as a gross miscarriage of justice full of “glaring anomalies”. Shafee was at the centre of it, so why was Najib paying him over RM5.2 million?

March 7th 2014 a three man Appeal Court panel found Anwar guilty, overturning the judgement of the High Court the previous year in an astounding perversion of justice (normally an acquittal can never be appealed or reversed except in exceptional cases and through a complete re-trial).

Legal suit – Saiful says Anwar withdrew first

Suit against Anwar dropped due to high legal fees, says Saiful

KUALA LUMPUR: Former political aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan says he withdrew his RM50mil defamation suit against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as he could not bear the high legal fees.

Mohd Saiful said although he has a concrete case, the legal process sometimes takes too long.

“I am not able to bear the legal cost. I have to mortgage my property and have to come up and down to court.

“It has been seven years for me to go through legal process to prove the authenticity of the police report that I made in 2008,” he said in a statement sent to the press by his counsel Zamri Idrus on Monday.

Saiful drops defamation suit against Anwar

No reason was given.

Saiful had filed s suit in August 2014 for allegedly being sodomised, and then for defamation over Anwar’s various public statements and media interviews.

“Anwar’s statement had resulted in public scorn in the social media and various websites. I was also ridiculed by Anwar’s supporters,” Saiful had said in his statement of claim.

Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan has dropped his RM50 million defamation suit against jailed former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar’s lawyer Latheefa Koya said Saiful’s lawyer Zamri Idrus informed the Kuala Lumpur High Court of their decision this morning.

The case management was scheduled to take place there in the chambers of Judicial Commissioner Azizul Azmi Adnan, who was supposed to hear the case next August.

The withdrawal means Saiful would no longer have any claims against Anwar, said Latheefa.

“We are happy because it further reaffirms Anwar’s innocence,” she told reporters.

The complainant gave no reason for the case’s withdrawal or any discussion on costs, she added.

Leicester City Football Club: Video of RACIST SEX ORGY filmed in Thailand

QUESTIONS

Leicester have sacked James Pearson, Tom Hopper & Adam Smith for ill-discipline during their end-of-season tour.

Yes, they have been sacked. Almost everyone is satisfied. Justice is done. However, have we considered these questions?

1. Will James Pearson, Tom Hopper or Adam Smith ever find jobs as professional footballers again? In England?
2
. Will any club in England, or Europe for that matter, be brave enough to hire any of the three?
3. What kinds of pressure will be brought to bear on a club willing to consider any of them?
4. How are their families coping?

Leicester’s racist sex orgy scandal: Players say sorry after video goes viral

LONDON, June 1 — Three Leicester City players, including the son of the English Premier League side’s manager, issued a public apology after a newspaper reported they had been filmed in an orgy with a Thai woman who was racially abused.

A video obtained by Britain’s Sunday Mirror newspaper allegedly shows defender James Pearson, 22, the son of the club’s manager Nigel, naked in a hotel room.

It was alleged he was joined by striker Tom Hopper, 21, and goalkeeper Adam Smith, 22, who appear to be shown lying naked in a bed laughing as the video is filmed.

The Sunday Mirror said the players from Leicester, a club now owned by the Thai father and son combination of businessmen Vichai and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, allegedly filmed Thai women engaged in explicit sex acts in a hotel room.

The paper also said one of the players appeared to call a woman “slit eyes” a racially abusive term when applied to people of Asian origin.

KANGAR: Cabinet minister Shahidan Kassim is toying with the idea making a tourist attraction of the biggest of the human trafficking camps discovered near the Thai border.

Shahidan, a former Perlis menteri besar and current MP for Arau, was impressed by the camp which he visited today, according to Rakyat Post.

The camp near Lubuk Sirih is 100m from the border and the biggest of the 16 discovered so far.

Last week, police reported uncovering 139 graves of victims of human trafficking syndicates in 28 abandoned camps in hilly forested areas strung along the border near Wang Kelian.

“This camp is beautiful, three times bigger than the camp that was previously highlighted. The camp is almost the size of a football field, it even includes a surau, an imam’s house, vegetable farm and other facilities,” he was quoted as saying. “We also found beer cans from Thailand and playing cards, which suggests a huge community was living here,” he was reported to have told journalists at Wang Kelian.

He said he intended to turn the camp into a tourist attraction “because of its strategic location and when a lot of tourist come here, there won’t be any more incidents like these. Let it be a place for the people to see how smuggling of people was done and where they were kept,” he was quoted as saying.

What happened after 139 graves found in Wang Kelian, Perlis?

z1.jpg

PARLIAMENT The 12 police personnel nabbed following the discovery of mass graves in the Thai-Malaysian border in Wang Kelian, Perlis were released due to lack of evidence.

Four foreign nationals were charged with human trafficking offences, of which a Bangladeshi pleaded guilty, two Myanmarese were found guilty, while the trial against a Thai national is pending, Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

“The 12 police officers suspected involved in smuggling migrant workers were arrested under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act (Atipsom) and the Prevention of Crime Act (Poca).

“However, they have been released because there was insufficient evidence to convict them of the offence,” Zahid said.

No surprise here: Minister claims he was misquoted. By ALL media. Quite unlikely to be misquoted by all media.

Another human trafficking transit camp found

One more human trafficking transit camp has been found at the Mata Ayer Forest Reserve in Lubuk Sireh, about 100 metres from the Thai border.

The camp, complete with numerous facilities such as a generator and a small dam, is very different from the transit camps found in Bukit Wang Burma, Wang Kelian.

It took two hours to reach the site on foot, according to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Shahidan Kassim, who visited the area today.

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 8 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad told former law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim today to show evidence that he has billions after the latter said Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) decision makers were billionaires.

“I’m not sure whether he has the evidence and maybe he can show how many billions I have,” said the prime minister after launching Poh Kong’s ‘Gold Note of Hope’.

Zaid blogged yesterday that PH’s 2018 election manifesto was written by idealists who promised a welfare state and said the problem was that the “real” decision makers in the government were not socialists or supporters of the welfare system.

Instead, he said, they were billionaires and towkays who were in line with Dr Mahathir’s economic philosophy and liked selling assets and favoured creating more wealthy businessmen.

“That’s his opinion,” Dr Mahathir said in response today. “I don’t have to agree with everybody. People are free to make their own opinion in this country.”

Psychiatric evaluation requested for female suspect in ‘kitchen floor’ murder

GOMBAK: The woman being investigated with her husband over the alleged murder and burial of their child under the kitchen floor of their Kepong home, claims she is also a victim in the whole incident.

Her lawyers, who represented the 32-year-old woman at the Selayang magistrate’s court Saturday, has requested for a psychiatric evaluation to prove their client was suffering from “battered wife syndrome”.

The housewife and her 33-year-old moneylender husband had their remand extended until June 13 for the murder investigation. They are expected to be charged in court next week.

Kitson Foong, representing the woman, said he intended to prove that while she may have been involved in the gruesome tragedy, she was not a willing participant.

“We have requested that my client be sent to Hospital Bahagia for a psychiatric examination, specifically for battered wife syndrome.

“We believe she is suffering from this syndrome, so much so that on that day in question, it was not her fault. She was just following.

“In that situation, she was as much a victim,” Foong told reporters outside the court complex.

Sources told the New Straits Times the 33-year-old man, who is reported to be a loan shark, had beaten and punched the boy in the abdomen repeatedly for teasing a younger sibling.

This was revealed during interviews with the 9-year-old victim’s 14-year-old stepsister, 10-year-old sister and youngest brother, aged 7, who told police the incident took place two months ago, with the victim’s mother and siblings looking on in horror.

“The children said their mother pleaded for the father to stop the beating, but it continued until the victim died,” said the source.

Following the incident, the suspect, to cover his tracks, had his wife wrap the victim’s body up while the man’s elder daughter from another marriage helped lower the body into a hole dug into the kitchen floor of the rented house.

“He then covered the hole up and engaged a contractor to cement the floor up again,” said the source.

PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) – An image found on Google Street View showing a boy and his sister getting ready to leave their house in Taman Usaha Jaya, Selangor, might seem innocent enough. But the image, captured by Google Street View cameras in February 2014, turns chilling when one considers that the boy in the image might be the one found buried in his kitchen on Saturday. The identity of the boy in the image, however, remains unconfirmed.

The man and woman who rented the house are under arrest. DNA  tests will be done to prove whether the skeleton is that of their sons. Star

Neighbours heard cries of children being beaten

zaScene of the crime: Police cordoning off the house where the remains of the child were found in the kitchen. GOMBAK: The home where the body of a child was found buried in cement had its doors and windows locked, and the family never chatted with their neighbours. About a week before they moved out, neighbours heard a boy cry out: “Please! Don’t hit me! Don’t hit me!” Taman Usaha Jaya residents said they were saddened but not surprised by the morbid find, saying that there was “something off” about the family. … Neighbour Ten Heen, 65, whose relative rented the home to the family, described the 33-year-old patriarch as a “man who could eat you up”. His arms were covered in tattoos and he would be very cold towards Ten even when greeted. “Whenever he walked out, it’s like he was scared someone would recognise him,” Ten said, adding that the man lived in the house with his wife, their two daughters and two sons. … “The children are quite young – maybe the eldest has just started secondary school. “Last month, I heard a big fight in the house and I heard the son pleading ‘don’t hit me, don’t hit me’. “The next day, neighbours noticed that one son was missing. He didn’t come out of the house. “The day after that, the family brought in a contractor to drill a hole,” said Ten. He said he suspected something amiss when his brother-in-law told him that they only hired a contractor to fix a clogged pipe in the bathroom. The family, he said, became more reclusive and the home was dead quiet for about a week. Neighbours then saw the family packing up and driving off around mid-April. http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2015/05/31/They-were-a-very-odd-family-Neighbours-heard-cries-of-children-being-beaten/ — Malay Mail Online Police seek man over body cemented under kitchen floor

“Have MORE babies!” That’s what the Minister who has AMOST EVERYTHING says to other Malaysian women.

On 25 May 2015,Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Rohani Abdul Karim, told Parliament that families were encouraged to have at least three or four children to address the country’s declining birth rate.

And what do you suppose your maid were doing while you were at work? 2

Parliament: Malaysians should have more children, says Rohani

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians should have more children – ideally three or four in a family, to address the projected shrinking population, says Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim.

She said the average fertility rate of Malaysians in 2012 was 2.1 children but this was expected to drop to 1.91 children in 2020, according to the United Nations’ projection for Malaysia.

Rohani said the rate of 2.1 children was merely enough to replace their parents in the national population.

“We have done programmes to inform married couples that an ideal family should have three to four kids, based on our research.

“But the current trend now is to have two children or less. However, we cannot force couples to have children as the decision depends on them,” she told the Dewan Rakyat during question time on Monday.

Rohani said couples also had children according to how much they can afford from their income.

Can’t have more babies on RM900 wage, minister told |

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rohani Abdul Karim has come under fire for asking Malaysians to have more babies at a time when wages are stagnant.

PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin said Rohani should first try to survive with a minimum wage of RM900 instead of a minister’s salary.

“PKR Wanita challenges her to live 30 days as a woman who earns the minimum wage of RM900 together with her existing family.

“Then decide at the end of 30 days whether or not she would still try to convince other people to have more children, when there are high living costs and financial worries are on the mind,” said Zuraida in a statement today.

Christians for Peace and Harmony Malaysia (CPHM): Pro BN, launched by Najib when he was the PM…

CHRISTIANS FOR PEACE AND HARMONY MALAYSIA (CPHM)

12 December 2018

..

PETALING JAYA: A Christian group will be hosting a Christmas dinner this week, expected to be attended by over 200 representatives from different ethnic and religious organisations including Malay rights group Perkasa and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais).

In a statement, the Christians for Peace and Harmony in Malaysia Movement (CPHM) said the event was to celebrate the many communities living together in the country.

“CPHM seeks to be the catalyst to motivate and equip all citizens to better foster peace and harmony among the people by emphasising love and forgiveness and focusing on building bridges to other communities, seeking a better understanding of others, generating goodwill and building trust through positive interaction in nation building.

“CPHM hopes that the gathering of multiracial and multi-religious groups at this Christmas dinner will once again symbolise and reflect the best unique feature of Malaysia, of different communities with different religions and cultures living peacefully and harmoniously together as we celebrate diversity in the nation,” it said.

Aside from Perkasa and Jais, groups such as Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (Abim), the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) and PAS Youth have also confirmed their attendance.

CPHM said Azman Amin, the chairman of the Committee to Promote Understanding and Harmony Among Religious Adherents, would also attend, while representatives from the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) are expected to be present as well.

The dinner, which will be held at the Dorsett Grand Subang tomorrow, is open by invitation only.

In short, we say thank you for the money but it will not be used to fish for votes.

The acid test for Christians for Peace

COMMENT Most people would agree that if the Christians for Peace and Harmony Malaysia (CPHM) movement is being apolitical, it should be liberal in the way it provides funding of community projects with seed money of RM20,000 or RM30,000.

Its president, Rev Wong Kim Kong, has used the words “non-partisan” and openly declared that even before the organisation was launched recently by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, they have already raised all the money that they needed from within the Christian community.

As if spilling the beans with his own words, Wong had in fact denied federal funding, saying that this would at least spare his newly-established organisation from being perceived as being directly backed by Putrajaya.

It cannot be denied that prominent Christian businessman Francis Yeoh and his family have always been known for their great generosity for a number of causes that they personally support.

In his speech, Najib had even told the audience that the banquet for 1,200 in the five-star hotel was sponsored by YTL Corporation, the owner of the posh Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

Money apparently was also pouring from other commercial entities. Without stating the obvious, big donations collected from the private companies to support the newly-established organisation often come from people who owe a favour to the people in the corridors of power.

Wong did not have to say it but most people know that, within the local context, a mere word from a sitting prime minister to any businessman is all that it takes for big amounts of money to be released.

But as one Christian has posted his comment, an organisation like CPHM should have taken a more humble approach during its launch. Instead of splashing it on a lavish banquet, it should have channeled whatever money that it has to where the real needs are.

With the kind of funding that Wong said CPHM has attracted, the money would have been better used on a non-partisan basis by organisations that are directly involved in the flood relief work in Kelantan, where homes are still not built and people are still living in makeshift tents.

The money spent on 1,200 guests in a lavish banquet for a night could have been better used to feed a few hundred multi-religious, multi-faith street people or help the homeless Kelantanese. There is no need to give away bags of rice, with CPHM’s name (or even Najib’s portrait) printed on the bags.

As I gather it, the reason why most people are unhappy about CPHM’s positioning is because the movement carries the label of being ‘Christian’ but appears to have some hidden motives, yet denying having any links with or backing from Putrajaya.

The Malay Mail Online has been more direct in calling it a ‘Putrajaya-backed’ movement, but I am merely saying that CPHM should have been more upfront about its real motives.

It’s a long article. Read the whole article in:

What could be the hidden agenda behind CPHM?

za

COMMENT Apparently, the people behind the Christian for Peace and Harmony (CPHM) movement have difficulties in upholding social justice in a country where double standards are being used.

This is why social justice is never on its agenda, despite Christians being exhorted to “let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5:24).

Peace, as defined by Jesus, is not what the world can give but deep-seated in our hearts, as uniquely endowed by him (John 14:27). It is synonymous to having peace in the eye of a storm.

In my opinion, if social justice is not upheld or seen being upheld through the political will of people in the corridors of power, at best CPHM would only be doing the firefighting.

I have raised the question of motive behind CPHM with its president, Rev Wong Kim Kong. Setting aside all the misgivings, CPHM has stated clearly that it is out of its scope to deal with the ‘Allah’ controversy or the confiscation of Malay Bibles (the Alkitab) and other Christian publications in Bahasa Indonesia, but is it not true that religious tension is often played up by groups that centre around these sensitive issues?

See where the contradiction is? On one hand is the attempt to promote peace and harmony which is well and good; on the other hand, when certain groups do not adhere to the federal constitution on the rights of the non-Muslims to practice their religious affairs without interference, CPHM says it is out of its scope to intervene.

Is ‘peace and harmony’ group another gimmick?

COMMENT It is hard to believe when the prime minister and president of Umno attends a banquet dinner with Christian leaders, invited under the guise of peace and harmony, Najib Abdul Razak would not touch on politics.

This is the promise made by a reverend to guests invited to the banquet organised by a newly-established organisation known as the Christian for Peace and Harmony Movement (CPHM).

The banquet on June 2 will host 1,200 people, which (at the time of writing) will include, among others, representatives from Perkasa such as Ibrahim Ali and Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma).

We’re non-partisan, says leader of Christian group

Despite concerns over the launch of a new Christian group tonight with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as its guest of honour, the group’s chairperson, Rev Wong Kim Kong, is giving his assurance that the group is strictly non-partisan.

Wong appealed to members of the public to remain calm and to give his group – Christians for Peace and Harmony in Malaysia (CPHM) – some time to prove that it is sincere and honest in its cause.

“Let us, over time, prove our sincerity and confirm whether we are politically- motivated or not.

“Just give us time and allow us, through our future activities and our pursuits, to show whether we are politically-motivated or manipulated by other people,” Wong told Malaysiakini when contacted yesterday.

Christians don’t use ‘Allah’ to convert others, says new group

New non-governmental organisation Christians for Peace and Harmony Malaysia (CPHM) today defended the Christian community from allegations that the word “Allah” was used to preach the Gospel to believers of other religions.

CPHM president Rev Wong Kim Kong said the accusation was not true, and by and large Christians were not extremists who coerced others.

Instead, the Arabic word for “God” was used by Bahasa Malaysia-speaking Christian congregations, Wong told reporters before a banquet to launch CPHM at a Kuala Lumpur hotel tonight.

Christians are taught to respect authority, says new group on Najib

Putrajaya’s endorsement of new non-governmental organisation Christians for Peace and Harmony Malaysia (CPHM) is meant to help endear Muslims to the group and its efforts to restore trust between religions, its president Rev Wong Kim Kong said today.

Christian-Muslim relations in the past have had a history of distrust, Wong said, and that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the government support CPHM would instil confidence among the other religions to dialogue with the group.

“To be able to engage Muslims in conversation, they must have some confidence.

“So when Najib endorses it, it will give the Malays and Indians the confidence to dialogue and accept us.

“Tonight you will see the uniqueness of this group,” Wong said in reference to the dinner, which was also attended by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala and former minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

The CPHM will officially be launched this June 2 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak himself at the Majestic Hotel here.

The CPHM chairman is Reverend Wong Kim Kong, a former secretary-general of the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF).

Wong said the idea of a new grouping arose from concerns over the increasing tension over religion because of the ban on the use of the word Allah in Bahasa Malaysia in a Catholic weekly, and the seizure of Bibles, among other issues.

He said Najib’s endorsement of the new grouping was recognition “for us to work with not only Christians but with everyone” and would help to overcome misgivings when reaching out to those from other religions to work for peace and harmony.

New group seen as Malaysian govt ‘tool’ to win over Christians

Embedded image permalink

KUALA LUMPUR — Despite reservations by established organisations, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak is set to launch the Christians for Peace and Harmony Malaysia (CPHM), a group which critics have accused of being a tool to help the government reclaim confidence among the Christians.

Critics of the new group have questioned its inception, noting that the other prominent Christian groups like Council of Churches Malaysia (CCM) and Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) have distanced themselves from this non-governmental organisation.

Critics said that the government’s endorsement of this new group made it look as if the others had not been effective in their roles in uniting Christians.

Mr Najib’s involvement in the CPHM event have raised questions about a possible rift between the new NGO and the older ones which are critical of the government over a host of matters involving Christians.

These include the “Allah” issue, seizure of Christian materials, including Malay and Iban Bibles and the recent Taman Medan cross protest.

Prominent Christians form BN-friendly faith group backed by Putrajaya

KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 ― Several prominent Christians, including a former Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) leader, have formed a new Barisan Nasional-friendly faith group called Christians for Peace and Harmony in Malaysia (CPHM).

Malay Mail Online understands that CPHM aims to provide counterpoint to existing and established Christian groups in the country such as the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) and the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF) Malaysia, which are often viewed as critical of the government.

CPHM will officially be launched this June 2 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak himself at the Majestic Hotel here.

In the invitation to its launch, CPHM labelled itself as a “grassroots movement initiated by a group of concerned Christians to promote mutual respect, tolerance and acceptance among citizens of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds through fostering peace and harmony in the country.”

“The vision of CPHM is beyond any one religion. We will endeavour to encourage the whole citizenry to embrace the call for the promotion of peace and harmony amongst all the peoples in Malaysia.

New Christian grouping to be launched by Najib

Organiser aims to be catalyst for citizens, through love and not through confrontation or consultation

rev_Christian_600

KUALA LUMPUR: A new Christian organisation, called Christians for Peace and Harmony Malaysia, will be launched on Tuesday, and the presence of Prime Minister Najib Razak as guest-of-honour has led to accusations that it is being used as a government tool.

However, its chairman, Rev Wong Kim Kong told Malaysian Insider: “This is not true, Najib is not using us. We approached him to launch our group and they (the government) have not funded us. And even if they were to offer funding, we would not accept it.”

Rev Wong, a former secretary-general of the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship, said leaders and representatives of 230 churches in the Klang Valley were expected for the launch ceremonies, together with heads of the various religious groups.

Among those who will attend is Ibrahim Ali, head of the Malay rights group Perkasa. However Wong reported to be disappointed with opposition politicians who all declined because of Najib’s presence. “We sent invitations to two top leaders of each party. But some have replied to say that they cannot participate in an event where Najib is the guest of honour. They have shown that they do not understand the objective of this, that we must come together. They also forget that he (Najib) is still the PM of the land,” the report quoted him as saying.

Man who was shot at roadblock wins suit against cops

SHAH ALAM: Container equipment operator Shahril Azlan Ahmad Kamil, 30, has won his civil claim against the police and government for shooting him at a roadblock.

Justice Hanipah Farikullah held Friday that it was not right for a policeman to have shot Shahril when the officer’s life was not in danger.

She ordered for general damages to be assessed later.

Costs of RM30,000 was awarded.

Shahril had alleged that he was shot by police officers on April 16, 2009, in Section 7 of Shah Alam while he was reversing his vehicle in a bid to evade a police roadblock. He was about 100m away, at a traffic light.

He panicked upon seeing the roadblock and tried to escape as the road tax for his car has expired.

Another shooting victim takes police to court

za

Almost three years after container operator Shahril Azlan Ahmad Kamil was allegedly shot by police, and yet to receive satisfactory justification for this, the 28-year-old today initiated legal action against the force.

The lawsuit filed in the Shah Alam Court Complex this morning names Shah Alam district police chief, inspector-general of police and the Malaysian government as defendants.

Shahril states in his suit that the police had abused their power by shooting him with intent to kill, and without any just cause.

He is seeking RM18,120 in special damages for the 15-month period he had underdone recuperation, and for repairs done to his vehicle that was damaged in the incident.

Shahril is also asking for an unspecified amount in general damages and aggravated damages, with an eight percent interest rate from the date of the lawsuit.

Speaking to journalists at the court lobby, Syuhaini said the explanation by the police that Shahril was a criminal was unfounded.

“He has not been charged by the police for any criminal offence until now,” she said.

Machine operator lodges report over police shooting

SHAH ALAM: A man has lodged a police report that he was shot by police at a roadblock in Section 7 here at midnight on April 16 last year.

Shahril Azlan Ahmad Kamil, 26, said he lodged the report because no action was taken after the first one was lodged by his father at the Klang police headquarters one day after the incident.

The machine operator at North Port in Klang lodged the report at the Shah Alam police headquarters here yesterday.

He wanted Bukit Aman police to form a special team to investigate the case with fairness and transparency.

Accompanied by lawyers Fadiah Nadwa Fikri and Puspawati Rosman, he said the shooting left him with sleeping problems and numbness in the leg, making it difficult for long-distance driving.

Recalling the incident, Shahril said he was driving home with a friend after watching a football game at a restaurant in Section 7 when he saw a police roadblock.

He stopped at a traffic light about 100m from the roadblock and panicked on realising that his road tax had expired.

“I wanted to reverse but my friend said two men in plainclothes armed with sticks were approaching. I reversed and then heard two or three shots,” said Shahril.

“One of the shots shattered the windscreen and hit me in the shoulder, rib and back.

“Then one man came, smashed the window and asked us to get out while the other kicked the door and pointed a pistol at me.”

He said he told them he panicked as his road tax had expired and pleaded for an ambulance but he was suspected of having drugs.
