JOHOR POLLS | A large crowd moshing to rock music at a Johor concert linked to the Communications and Multimedia Ministry without social distancing amid the Covid-19 pandemic has caught the attention of the police which have initiated an investigation.

In a clip of the event in Ayer Hitam, Johor showed attendees moshed to a remix version of the dangdut music “Yang Penting Happy” by Jamal Mirdad, which has gone viral on Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.

Photographs of the event also showed the crowd lifting people up in the air.

The “Riuh Ek!” concert last Friday (March 4) was part of the ministry’s “Riuh Keluarga Malaysia” programme aimed at helping with the revival of the creative industry which has been in the doldrums due to the pandemic.

The event was organised by MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd, which described itself as a government investment arm aimed at spurring the local creative industry and is placed under the Communications and Multimedia Ministry.

Its minister Annuar Musa, who was in Johor to campaign for BN in the state polls over the weekend, had also attended the event where he delivered a speech.

The atmosphere appeared more subdued when Annuar, who is also Umno’s Ketereh MP, was delivering his speech.
